Well, that date of "All Other Forms 9/29/2007" should make me feel better, but if I filed on the 26th does that mean I should have my NOA1 already? And what does it mean if I don't?

And you'd think the government would jump on the chance to cash a check and get some money, but our check has been sitting there for quite awhile. That's the part that puzzles me more than not having the NOA1 actually. Why isn't the check cashed yet?

My thought is that the receipting backlog actually means that your packet has been received at the service center, but they have not actually removed your file from the envelope yet and started putting it into their system. So, they have not cashed your check yet because they have not opened a file for you yet. Once they open your packet and move the stuff around and enter it into their computer systems, which probably generate your case number, then they will cash the check and issue the NOA1. The NOA1 is really just their way of telling you that you now have a case number and are entered into the computers now. In my case, the check showing up at my bank and being cashed only beat the hardcopy NOA1 by 3 days.

we are september fillers also...well we mailed it on september 25th and they received it on the 28th..but still no respond yet about the notice.....is it normal???

how come october fillers to CSC recieving it before us ???

Is it normal? I would say Yes, although it shouldnt be. There are others who sent theirs in before you and still dont have their NOA1. Moxcamel did some number crunching, and if I remember correctly, you should start seeing something at the 39-43 day mark. So you are probably about 2-3 weeks from getting it.

The only explanation that I have for some of the October filers getting theirs already from CSC is because they have contract employees who do the inital data entry which in turn generates the case # and NOA1. They were supposed to be hiring more contractors, and a new guy might have grabbed the wrong stack of files.

Well Mox, I think we are going to wait to see if you get your NOA1. You filed before we did. If you get it this week, we'll just wait. If not, I think we shall definitely be sending the ombudsman an email. Thank you SO much for the information!

Okay, while I am really happy for them, I'm a little steamed at the same time! I just saw that someone who filed their I-129F at VSC on September 18th has already been APPROVED! It took 32 days from filing!

WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? GAH! I mean really! We haven't even gotten our NOA1's yet and they're approved! Maybe it's a new trend at VSC again? Maybe I'll be back to wishing that we could have filed there! ~sighs~

Please don't take offense to my post above yours. I'm SO excited for you, but really frustrated with the whole process at the same time!

I must also edit this to say though, that I see you're having your interview in Montreal, and my condolences in advance for the long wait for the interview. That kind of sucks. The NOA2 super fast, but then a wait for the consulate to get their butt in gear!

We didn't apply for expedited processing, nor are either of us in the military.

We did send in over 75 pages of evidence, including 6 months' worth of phone records, 15-20 pictures taken over the last three years and e-mails between us and between me and his parents. Also, About 10-15 boarding passes.

I have no idea why we were approved so quickly - I imagine it was by the grace of G-d alone.

....hmmm...Do I sense a little jealousy in these words? Just kidding. This just made me chuckle a bit. They may indeed have a fair wait ahead of them, but seems like they got a really good head start. Well, good for them. Maybe this will begin happening more often....who knows?
