Mexican governor announces the time "has arrived" to declare a North American Economic Community

btw.. that's not the story.. for years Mexican tuna companies had a record of zero dolphins killed, but for one single time they got one, they didn't get the dolphin free sign.. true was, mexican tuna, as venezuelan one, is cheaper than american tuna..

Sounds like the Softwood lumber dispute between the US & Canada...

or the "Mad" Cow scare.. One American born cow tests positive in Canada and the whole border is shut..

Let there be no mistake, the US takes care of her own.. I only wish that Canada had some balls in that department..

but also.. if the US commercial regulations take good care of their own.. I then wonder how these 'attack on the US sovereignity' can affect the US companies.. or are they afraid the US is not gonna protect them as well as before? or are they just afraid of fair competitiveness

Well i think that the US is smart to protect herself, and if I was a US business I would scream bloody murder if I saw a huge competitive market coming my way (I'd try to spin it with gross exaggeration, play the "poor little dolphin card", health crises looming card, and the ever dreaded "government subsidies" card). I don't blame the US Companies for being so protectionistic.. but I think that if Canada stood up for herself and said.. oh yeah?... well then darlin' we won't buy "this" or "that".. or we won't sell you say.. oil.. or water.. etc. etc.. I am unaware of Mexico, but Canada has serious leverage to push back with and I am tired of CDN politicians who won't rock the boat.. I think the first and ONLY time in my life time we stood up for ourselves was to say no to going into Iraq.. Geesh...

I know C. is certainly annoyed with the CDN government over NAFTA, as while it's been a benefit for American business, Canadian politicians don't stand their ground. Canada's still the U.S.'s biggest supplier of oil. That's a pretty big lever.

Who is Canada's biggest trading partner? I think Canada has more than benefited from NAFTA

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

It's been a mixed bag for Canadian exports.

only wife o'hunky john can find articles relating illegal immigration and Hurricane Humberto..

can I ask what you meant by that

i've already said it in another post, all those threads are always about illegal immigrants, how el nino current is affected by illegal immigrants, and how the reproduction cycle of the polar bear is affected by.. guess..

Well I guess I take exception to this because you single out my Wife. I would appreciate you not single any one person out as long as they are not violating the TOS.

emm she DOES post multitudes of articles with many angles related to illegal immigration. Or are you saying she does not?

Daniel

:energetic:

No I am not, and she usually does not put commentary on them expressing her views. She posts them because she thinks they are an interesting comment on immigration. Have you ever thought to ask her if she is agreeing with the article or not?

I do not feel the need to defend her, because she is quite capable of that.

Despite all the little comments that some of you make, I am very proud of her because she continues to post articles to show what the general public is reading. without regard to what others think.

My hubby rocks!!!

And to clarify to all those that think I post a "multitude" of illegal immigration related articles, here are the latest topics I started...

  1. Mexican governor announces the time "has arrived" to declare a North American Economic Community , posted yesterday. A "North American Union" related story
  2. Microsoft updates Windows without users' consent, posted yesterday
  3. US To Reward Victims Of Crime With Visas, posted September 6th. The consensus of those offering feedback is that it seems fair. I thought people would be interested and they were.
  4. John Edwards: Americans Should 'Sacrifice' SUVs for Environment, posted August 29th
  5. The Birthright Citizenship Act of 2007, posted August 30th. Yes it does affect those who are here illegally but there is also information within the issue itself that says most of Europe, including the UK do not give automatic citizenship to those born on their soil. It provoked a discussion which was the intention.
  6. RFE Question, How long for USCIS to reply...?, posted August 30th
  7. Make me 'peace' envoy to U.S., Elvira begs Mexican prez, posted August 30th. Her cheek astounds me, what can I say?
  8. Lawmakers: Widow of man who died saving others should stay in US, posted August 30th. A tragic situation where the US spouse didn't file residency papers for his wife, then died a hero trying to save 2 children from drowning. I thought it heartbreaking and unfair. It seems I wasn't the only one.
So of the latest 25 I posted, 11 were related to immigration and of those 1 was to do with a current bill being proposed, 2 were to do with the illegal holed up in a church, 1 was a new visa proposal for illegals who were victims of crime, 2 were about people dealt a rough blow by immigration through either unfair legislation or a mistake they made that ultimately was resolved. The rest were relating to how criminals avoid deportation, something I thought would be of interest, how the no-match enforcement has holes in it, how El Passo is being affected by border enforcement, how the census wants to halt immigration raids so they can count everyone, including illegals, and how businesses can't solve the immigration mess - unfair burden etc.

I look at a broad range of issues relating to immigration and yes, in the current climate, things like no-match letters and Birthright citizenship legislation do affect illegals. It's an immigration forum and people seem interested. If folk don't want to read them, that's ok with me.

Hope that clears things up

:)

the truth doesn't matter. people will still say..... ZOMG, YOU HATE BROWN PEOPLE!!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

OMG!!! Does that mean I hate everyone?

Maybe someone could construct a chart where if your paleness is above point XYZ, you are automatically an imperialist, fascist, racist, capitalist ####### ..

Kind of like when I take a pH on the glycol in our dehydration unit at work and compare the result on the chart on the box or the dentist matches my tooth color on the chart when I have a filling done. Unfortunately life isn't so cut and dry.

Actually the fear of Brown people is really the fear that the USA will become Mexico. Good for the ultra-rich, but it sucks for everyone else. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."
