DS 230 n Police cert

Hi there

I am wondering if the DS 230 package would contain a checklist/requirement list that would say it requires police certs? I am asking this as my local policeman insisted that I have to produce a letter from NVC to prove that I needed the police cert. I thought I could get all the documents sorted out and ready to send when the DS 230 package arrives but well, it now seems like I can't. Anyone with similar experience?

What you can do probably is give them a print out from this.

Hi thanks for the reply. I guess I can try with this internet page printout but I recalled the policeman saying they want an official document in order to process the police certificate. I'm not exactly sure which official document they are referring to.

Well yeah it shouldn't be such a struggle to get a police cert but here in Singapore, I guess the policeman needs to fill up some paper work and requires an official form before they would get my cert done.

According to the DOS link, people going through Singapore only need to send the NVC a copy of the passport bio data page along with Part I of the DS-230. Once they complete your case there, they will forward it to the US embassy in Singapore, then the embassy will send the beneficiary a checklist (packet 3) with the list of documents you need to gather. I'm assuming this checklist will have the form needed to get the police certificate.
