i think you're ok. this is the only dimensions required for the photos in the I-129f instructions. page 3 section:8b

Give USCIS a passport-style color photograph of yourself and a passport-style color photograph of your fiancé(e), with both photos taken within 30 days of the date of filing this petition. The photos must have a white background, be glossy, un-retouched and not mounted. The dimension of the full frontal facial image of you and your fiancé(e) in separate photos should be about one inch from your chin to the top of your hair in 3/4 frontal view. Using a pencil or felt pen, lightly print the name (and Alien RegistrationNumber, if known) on the back of each photograph.

Are you going to feel good about that statement if they get an RFE???

to the OP, youve been adviced by more than enough ppl to redo the pics or you will get a possible RFE, and those can take a long time to recieve and send back. It will save you more time to just redo the pics.

yes. i'm feeling pretty confident about it, since it came from the instructions on the form being filed at this point of the process.

If the actual dimentions on the photo are not the required dimentions, then they will get an RFE.

yes i know that. that is why i posted the part of the intructions w/ the required dimentions. nowhere does it say 2x2 on the I-129f. the 2x2 specific dimentions don't come until medical & interview forms.

WITH HAVING EXPERIENCE, it applies as well to the petition. My husbands was sent back bc in romania it was done with the wrong dimentions. i wouldnt be so consistant with my statement if i hadnt experienced it.

I went to Ritz Camera and 'blew up' the pictures to the appropriate dimensions. It turned out pretty good. I sent both pictures and I am expecting an RFE but we'll see what happens. I will give an update.

Iagree, as long as the photo ( face is the correct size) i dont think its crucial for I-129f that the picture is exactly 5 x 5

My fiance did the same thing. His photos were too small and we received an RFE. When I visited him in June, my first day there ... we went to a photographer and had new passport photos taken of each of us. The photographer was wonderful, as I was a crazy woman: "TWO inches by TWO inches." We go by centimeters, miss. I DON'T CARE if you go by horse hooves. I need photos that are TWO INCHES by TWO INCHES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MS was patient and calm - translating what I was saying to Turkish. But the photographer saw my expression and knew he had a crazy women in his shop. (LOL) I brought a sample cardboard measuring 2"x2" as I was not going to take any chances with conversion errors. I guarded those stupid photos with my life while on vacation in Turkey.

When I got back, I bought two passport photo cards from Mailboxes, Etc. for the RFE Reply. In two weeks, we received the NOA2.

If you can, get the photos enlarged to 2"x2". If you can't, have her take passport photos again which are cut to 2"x2".

Much good luck!

MM and MS

I just got a package of everything I need from my fiancee. Unfortunately, she and the place where she got her photos taken must not have understood what I meant when I said 2 inches by 2 inches. I told her 5.5 centimeters by 5.5 centimeters. The photo appears really small. It is 3.5 cm right to left and 4.5 centimeters up and down. What should I do? Can I get the pictures blown up at a walgreens or CVC? Or should she retake them. I think it might be better if I just send the thing in the way it is. What do you guys recommend? 2) Also, her hair is gelled back. Is this OK?

Those instructions always gave me concern. US passport fotos are taken straight on. The I-129F instructions say passport style in 3/4 view. So which is it?

I think most people submit straight on shots in 2 x 2 size and do not have problems. Assuming it will not take more than a couple of weeks to get new fotos to the petitioner I would vote for taking new fotos. An RFE can cause a real big delay if they don't mail it out promptly.

If she has access to an instant foto place she can request the digital file of the foto, email it, he can print it out on a half decent foto printer and he can have the new pics ready to go tomorrow. Maybe Kinkos can print them if needed?

Or if that is a problem, an overnight letter from Mexico is probably not real expensive if she can get to a FEDEX, DHL etc.

If she prints the fotos there, make sure she get the extras she will need for the interview. I don't know how many Mexico needs.

The instructions for the I-129f state quite clearly what is required. you can find the full instructions on the download link in this site. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-129Finstr.pdf

Item 6B on that form states the following:-

B. Give USCIS a passport-style color photograph ofyourself and a passport-style color photograph of yourfiancé(e), with both photos taken within 30 days of thedate of filing this petition. The photos must have awhite background, be glossy, un-retouched and notmounted.
