Hello All,

I just realized that I won't be able to obtain a new passport by the time I need to submit paperwork for removing conditions and I noticed a copy of passport is required.

Mine expired in July 2007 and I need to file in October. Polish embassy told me it will take up to 5 months to get a new passport.

Please advise if I will have problems.

Regards,

Ana

There is an example of cover letter to send with the paperwork here on VJ and it says:

"Enclosed also please find the following documents to verify the status of our marriage and ongoing relationship:

• Copies of the passports and green cards of (immigrant spouse) and (k-2 child).

Is it not necessary ?

Thanks

Ana

Am I allowed to naturalize next year ?

Frankly the passport thing is real pain. I went to Poland for two weeks: there's no way to obtain passport there in two weeks and I can't stay there longer because this is all the annual leave that I get. Here I have to wait forever :(

i think people might include a copy of their passport as evidence of a bona fide marriage but it isn't a necessity...

Information such as this on VJ is merely a guide and not necessarily constitute requirements

YMMV

Marilyn,

How does a passport prove that the marriage is bona-fide???

A woman's passport in her married name would be evidence tending to show a bona fide marriage.

Meh

If that is true, then in the case of the OP, her passport would be PP evidence as it appears to still be in her maiden name....

YMMV

I didn't say it was good proof... just trying to explain why someone might include it :P

It might be good evidence, when combined with the USC spouse's passport, if both passports indicate the couple travelled together. But that'll only apply if the couple did indeed take international trips together, and if the passports were stamped to indicate this.

We didn't include either of our passports when we filed the I-751, because they wouldn't have proved a relevant point for our case.
