Hi everybody! Okay, so I sent my I-130 via regular mail and I notice that most people send their applications certified. I have not received any notice of reciept, my check has not been deposited, and it has been over a month. Now the people on the hotline tell me I have to wait 90 days, that they can not tell me if my I-130 was even received, so I am thinking of just re-sending the whole petition once again, but this time certified to just be at ease knowing that it was received. Does anybody have any advice on doing this?

I understand that you're worried about your package arriving. There are many of us who filed over a month ago and haven't heard anything yet either. It's hard when you have no idea whats going on! Hopefully we'll start seeing some NOA's for that timeframe soon and we can feel better knowing that our process has started. Hang in there :)

There's nothing wrong with what you did, and how you mailed it. The delay of receipt relies with USCIS with the backlog queue in their system. Give them some more time as they say, they will get to your application before you knew it.

I never got my first receipt but it was approved so wait for sometime. It took them one month to tranfer to CSC and then they cashed my check that's how I found my receipt number. And keep checking to see if your check is deposited. I think it is better to use USPS priority mail or express mail with confirmation receipt. It would be confusing if you send another one and they actually received and working on your first application so it is better to wait sometime. No worries it will be fine.

I know how furstrating this is!

We sent our I-130 by registered mail so I could tell when they received it on 10th August. Finally, today, the check was cashed, a month later.

I went to USCIS with the receipt number from the check and it says that the application was received on 5th September - so at the moment you're looking at a delay of at least a month for NOA1.

Ours was filed with the California Service Center.

Married: 08/05/2007

I-130 sent CSC: 08/09/2007

NOA 1: 09/05/2007

NOA 2: 02/19/2008

NVC case number assigned: 03/04/2008

Case complete at NVC: 05/12/2008

Case sent to Consulate: 05/28/2008

Consulate received: 06/03/2008

Interview & Approval: 07/07/2008

Passport with Visa received: 07/11/2008

POE San Francisco: 09/15/2008
