Wow have I been sleeping??? I've been researching this process for over a year and I'm finally about to send off my I-129F tomorrow. I figured I better check the USCIS website one more time as I haven't for awhile. The fee that was $170. is now $455. and now I have to send it to Calif. instead of Nebraska. #######!!!! When did this change take place??? As you can probably tell I'm not happy!

Timeline

Sent I-129 application package to CSC. 9/10/07

Received hard copy NOA1 09/27/07

Received email of I-129 approval 01/31/08

Received had copy NOA2 and notice that

petition has been sent to NVC 02/05/08

Received Packet 3 03/03/08

Returned Packet 3 to Emabassy 03/06/08

Interview 06/06/08

This is a long, painful story so I'll just say that Wilaiwan finally arrived in Seattle(in a blizzard) on 12/21/08

Fees increased at the end of July. Check into Direct Filing: http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/Up...iling062107.pdf

Probably :) But on the bright side, your application should process a bit faster since you will be filing to CSC direct!

So what's different about "Direct filing" other than the fees and only having Cal. and Vermont service centers? Did you read the bs reasons for the fee hike! What a joke! "To enhance the security and integrity of the immigration system" . F'em! I'm going back to Thialand!

Thanks for the link!

This is only a guess, but I think the increase in fees has to do with the DHS going digital. The are they going to replace the pencil pushers with computer users and/or train the pencil pushers to be computer literate.
