So about a half an hour ago (9:30 p.m.), someone knocks on our door.

My Husband answers the door, there is a guy there. He says he is homeless and sleeping on the street and do we have any spare change.

Is this just some kind of random thing that happened tonight or has anyone else experienced panhandling up close and personal??

Hmmm..kinda weird..a man knock at our door just 5 min ago ..I just talk to him at the window(window close to the entrance door). He wanna ask something.and I said what is it..he wants me to open the door.he kinda insist me to open the door . I said I will call my husband and he quickly say never mind and drove away.:blink:

Scared me!! Gary still at work!!:wacko:

Sounds fishy. I'd call the police dept (not 911) and let them know. They may know something.

All the lights were on, we were playing music, definately knew we were here.

We live in Calgary, fairly large city, but we live 20 minutes from downtown, not like city center or anything.

maybe he was hoping a woman or kid would open the door, but your husband did. i'd go with the previous advice of reporting it to the police.

I probably should call the police but I won't, they are probably busy in crack alley. Just wondered if it was the norm and I was the only one who thought it was incredibly weird.

it's weird. that's why i answer the door with my .44 mag behind it :innocent:

this happened in Canada where they don't dial .44

they call 911 and wait for the police to arrive and draw lines around the callers (home owners) bodies.

Oh and by the way, here is the kicker - my Husband gave them some change!

Hope ther wasnt any bills showing in his wallet. They will be back,And it wont be with a thank you card.

Well, the guy did have a woman with him too (not relevant but anyway) - they probably live in the area. Our area has - nothing - not even a supermarket, it's just a community (I mean we have a 7-11 but you wouldn't bother coming here unless you lived here).

I just asked on a Calgary forum if anyone else had heard of anything like this and a guy answered that they have - I'll just paste what he wrote:

"Not as such, the scam that is going around our neighborhood at the moment is a woman who says she lives in the next street and is collecting donations so she can buy a poor crippled boy a new wheelchair. She even has a picture of a sad looking boy in a dilapidated wheelchair".

This interesting because we had pandhandlers at our door at 6:00pm this evening. I ran em off  I see enough of this at every corner, I shouldn't have to bare it at home
