27 year old Columbian man becomes first illegal immigrant to be reported to ICE by police in New Jersey

ELMWOOD PARK — A 27-year-old native Columbian became the first undocumented resident to be reported to immigration officials by borough police under a new state directive.

Monday’s arrest of Sabian Velasco, of 3rd Street, came five days after state Attorney General Anne Milgram said local police must now notify the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement of all illegal-immigrant arrests.

Velasco was arrested around 1:30 p.m. after he chased people inside his house with a three-foot machete, said police Sgt. Bryan DiPasquale.

DiPasquale described the victims as “in their 40s and familiar with [Velasco].”

“He didn’t cut anybody – he was chasing them,” the sergeant said. “We’re not sure what the chasing was about.”

Velasco, who is unemployed, has been in the U.S. for at least the last five years, DiPasquale said. His name didn’t show up in official residential searches and that he could not prove he was a legal resident, he said.

“His family ultimately told us that he’s an illegal immigrant,” DiPasquale said.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Sounds like his own kinfolks want his sorry a$$ deported far, far away too.

He's the first and hopefully many, many more will join him on a one-way back home where they belong.

I can't see why anyone is against this, but I'm sure the usual VJ pity party will emerge soon enough to decry his unfair treatment.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

note to self - if someone is chasing a person with a 3' machete, odds are he might be an illegal

Have you noticed the machete theme in a lot of these stories lately?

In this case, I doubt it. No one likes to be chased down with a machete.

sheesh.... he was just chasing people with a machete. He just wanted a better life.... with fewer people in it.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
