Have him move to Cuba and establish residency there. They get expedited processing because it supposedly takes longer to get through that embassy than any other (haha). The Domenican Republic has the worst wait of any country, by far.

I feel for you! I hope you can find a quicker way to be together.

Are you serious about the cuba thing.....hahaha Im American but both my parents are cuban.... hahah what a coincidence. I cant imagine Cuba being any better..oh wait a min.....didnt Fidel die......again...hahah

meet him in some place like Costa Rica...get married...and file for the K3. The interview will take place where you were married...Costa Rica.

Sems like there are many Dominicans there every time I go. Dont know if its easy or hard to get married there though.

Pienso que sera mas facil y puede ahorrar mucho tiempo.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Ok lets say i were to do that, do you have to be present in lets say costa rica during the K-3 process or can i come back to the states and he go back to DR. Does he have to stay in Costa rica illegally?? I wouldnt want that...

Somebody else will need to confirm this but I believe that it might be possible to have the interview in the country in which the marriage was performed.... I think this is what the other poster was trying to get at..... If you are able to get your fiance to CR (or some other country) and marry there... it might be possible to interview there.. Anybody?

YMMV

Hey all,

My fiance is Dominican and i heard that it is currently taking from 2-3 years for the process! I havnet even started the petiton paper work. I was wondering if this is true and if there is any other way that i could get him here to the US. Im at a lose for words, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Efernandez

Yes it is, Those from the Dominican Republic have over a year to wait for the interview after the petition has been approved. The average is 533 days according to the site timelines. If your fiancee can get legal resident status in another country, it may be much faster getting an interview.

What country would you recomend considering he cant realy go to many places... Canada? Spain?

What if we get married in DR, will that be quicker can he come back with me right away?? Im so desperate hahaha

If you go to dominicanstotheusa.com you will find a lot of valuble information and other choices of where you can marry (different countries) and get a faster interview from an embassy that does not have such an extensive waiting list. The forum is very beneficial for people who have SO in DR.

Yes, you are correct on this. According to the form directions, the K3 MUST be processed in the country where the marriage took place. We have one forum member in Honduras as we speak being interviewed.

Tim,

Whose in Honduras now??

You cant just go to another country, you have to establish legal residency in that country. What that takes, and how long that takes varies by country. But for some countries it may be faster than to wait the 1-2 years for an interview in Dominican Republic. Pretty much any country is faster than Dominican Republic when it comes to interviews.

Yes you can...... you can go as a visitor and get married while you are there.

Yes you can both go back to your homes, the interview will take place in the country you get married at. all forms will be sent to your SO's home address.

Kevin B has just finished his inetrview and his wife is in the US now. You do NOT have to be a resident of the other country to do this. This is a loophole in the K3. The visa MUST be processed where the marriage took place. Kevin's process tok just 7 months start to finish.

Has anyone had a good experience with a K1 from the DR? I am looking for hope, I filed on 2/11/08 after being told the process takes about 6 months.

Regarding marrying in another country other than the DR and filing there, can this be done even though the K1 application has been submitted?

I have been reading the responses here and i doesn´t make any sense to me, doing the whole process of going to other country to get marry and so on.

First, the consulate go thru an investigation with the foreing fiance in this case DR it is the foreing, in case you move which working info are you going to put in the papers?

Pleople let´s do things right, this is the main reason of the delays at the consulate, because US consulate knows the we (dominicans) are cheaters and they do extensive background check, check and rechecking of the information.

A lot of people get denied because they find the mistakes and error that people do, trying to be smart, and the consulate has access to all the database information of this country. TO ALL. but of course they are not going to give the people their reasons when they find fraud or other stuff.

Trust me, I know what I am talking about :star::yes:

My best advise to you is; gather your papers and put them in the mail and don´t mess things up. You can come to visit anytime you want your SO.:thumbs:
