Amazon is expressing anger and regret after a man delivering packages for the company was caught on home security video stealing a family’s cat in a Los Angeles suburb.

The theft happened Dec. 11 in Lakewood.

Diane Huff-Medina shared video with KTLA showing the Amazon Flex worker – an independent contractor – first dropping off a package at her front door and taking a photo to confirm delivery.

Piper, a Siamese mix, approaches the man, who crouches down to pet her. Moments later, the delivery driver picks up the cat by the scruff of her neck, carries her to his vehicle and drives away.

Huff-Medina said Piper has lived with her and her three sons for six years. The cat, who is microchipped, was not wearing a collar at the time, she said.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

Curious, and a little devil’s advocate, could he/she have thought it was a stray?  Not sure of the type of neighborhood, but cats are not usually simply out to roam unless they are barn cats.

If it was skinny, I might presume abandonment.  If it was healthy, I'd presume a house-cat that either got loose or was indoor-outdoor.  Can't speak for others, however.  Why, though, would he/she take it away?
