Hello. We’re getting increasingly concerned about our experience with them. We paid the firm in full twice, and our case was denied the first time. After that, we waited 1–2 years with no meaningful updates on an issue that was supposed to be handled after the denial.

We contacted them again in August of this year, but it has now been three months with no response. There’s nothing urgent we need to submit to USCIS right now, our case is still pending, but the lack of communication from the firm is really worrying.

If anyone has worked with this firm before, could you share your experience? Are long delays or unresponsiveness common with them? Thanks in advance.

Should have asked them to refund you or refile for free if it was their oversight.

You can probably fire them if unhappy. You can send another email asking for update with a reasonable deadline of 2 weeks, and if not, warn them you will file a bar complaint.

Thanks for your response! As far as we know, the denial wasn’t due to any oversight on their part. At this point, we’re thinking we might wait until there’s an actual request from USCIS and then decide how to move forward. The situation is pretty complex, and since they’ve already gone through all of our documents once, it feels like starting over with a new attorney would be a big step. Still, we’ll keep your suggestions in mind.

I hope you have copies of everything your attorney submitted. If not, ask for them today. Attorneys die, close firms, lose licenses etc.

Why was the first case refused? What kind of case and what complications?

It doesn’t sound great, the whole point of using a lawyer is so they make it easier and save you the stress of doing it yourself - but sounds like they’re doing the opposite!
