How Long does it take for the physical Green Card to be Mailed after entering the USA? Immigrant visa fee was paid prior to entering the USA. Also, is there anyway to track the progress of it? After the payment was made a case# was generated with the receipt and when you track it, it just says expect it in 90 days etc.

Up to 90-120 days.

You may want to sign up for USPS Informed Delivery, it's free.

The package with green card will be sent by Lees Summit Production Facility and you'll most likely know about it in USPS Informed Delivery before USCIS will publish USPS tracking number.

Agree with this... Jaycel's EAD status never showed a tracking number until the case status updated to "Card Was Delivered To Me By the Post Office" and that update didn't come until about 2-3 weeks after we received it. Her Green Card was delivered on Friday, Aug 1st and the status still says, "Card Was Produced" and the tracking number is "UNAVAILABLE" :D In both instances we had the notification from Informed Delivery the day it changed to Card Produced though and were able to track it

This was after our USCIS interview for Adjustment of Status from inside the US so I don't think it will correlate to your process but we had the interview July 23rd, Approval Showed in the portal on July 24th, Status changed to "Card Produced" on July 29th and we received it on Aug. 1st in our mailbox

As @OldUser said, expect 90-120 days.   If you don't see it after 120, submit an inquiry.

Ours took closer to 180 days and one of the 3 were incorrectly statused.  When you do receive the card, check it over for any errors - spellings and status.  If anything is incorrect, file an I-90 immediately to have it corrected.  It won't cost anything as long as the information provided to the DOS was correct at the interview.

Do you need the card to apply for a social security number? Or is that automatically done before hand?

No.  Your endorsed I-551 in your passport serves as proof of identity and status for up to a year.  You can get a SSN with it.

Not sure about I-551 being proof of identity (I think passport is), but I-551 is definitely a proof of status.

A quick google search says a MRIV is, but my inference was to the fact that it is affixed to a passport, which definitely serves as proof of identity.

My step daughter arrived here in the US the first week of March and her green card arrived around the middle of June so it was right around 90 days. Your I-551 green card stamped on your passport is a temporary green card for 1 year so not to worry your 10 year green card will arrive no more than 120 days.

It might be worth re-reading the guide for new immigrants to give you an overview of SSN's, and green cards etc. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/guides/M-618.pdf

Did you tick the box on the DS-260 to ask for the SSN to be issued?

Yes we ticked it off. But I was told by someone sometimes it doesnt get processed and to make an appointment. What do you recommend? Cancel the appointment or wait?

That can happen, my daughter's never arrived and so she had to go in person (the rest of us got them no issues though).

I wouldn't make an appointment until you've given it the two weeks after entry that they say to allow. It looks like you only entered a few days ago? Do you have Informed Delivery to see if it's on the way?
