Hello everyone,

I am in the process of working on my I-864 since we’ve just got a welcome letter from NVC and paid the feee. My income for 2024 Tax Return is $27025. My income for 2023 is also around $27,000 while 2022 is $36,000.

My current income is $36,000/year as I started a new job in March. I know my income in my latest tax return meets the minimum 125% Requirement. However, I heard that even if the petitioner’s income meet the minimum requirement,

NVC may requests additional documentation or request a joint sponsor later, which will delay the process.

Should this be an issue or should I get a joint sponsor for ease of mind? I don’t want to delay the process and is asked to have a joint sponsor at the interview.

Thank you! I appreciate everyone’s feedback.

CO will look at household size

the also have to consider where you live

Alaska and Hawaii have higher poverty limits

but also CO understands some US cities like NYC and Miami are much higher in housing costs

They also compare income to a factor known as "income deeming" which is what your are looks at for judging means tested benefits

Not a bad idea to secure joint sponsor as looks like your income fluctuates

OR letter from employer stating the current yearly   and current pay statements as some have found this helpful

Your income is marginal but above the minimum for a household of two unless you live  in Hawaii or Alaska.  Having a joint sponsor arranged and available, if necessary would be a good idea, just in case.

Thank you for the inputs.

I figured out that the income  we should put is the Total Income which mine is around $29,500.
If after we submitted the documents to NVC, will they let us know if we need joint sponsor and let us submit the joint sponsor’s i864? Or it will be at the interview that they request joint sponsor?

Can I include the job offer letter and current paystubs?
My total income for 2024 is about $29,500.
My current salary is $3000/ a month or 36,000 a year. Will they consider my current income if ai submit the job offer letter and current paystubs?

Yes, your current income is 36k a year.  It comes from the offer letter and pay stub, not a tax return.  With clearly qualified current and past income, NVC should have no problem.  I meant "in case" the Consular Officer requires it.
