Congratulations!

I've been following your case as we share the same FO. I was hoping we would have the same oath ceremony lol, but my interview is on October 8. Do let us know how your ceremony goes. Do you know the venue yet? Is is the Warren B Rudman US Courthouse at 55 Pleasant St in Concord?

No, at a school in Hanover NH.

Hi All

i applied online June 6 2025 - same day receipt and biometrics reused

is the general 5 yr rule application. no dependent or other joint application. Should be a clean case at Newark, Nj Field office

However even today 15 sep (102 days after submission) I still have no interview scheduled

Is this really abnormal? I know the timelines on USCIS website are way over inflated to hedge them from people enquiring. However, it feels almost everyone with a simple case from early june filing has an interview by now

not sure if congressional inquiry via rep/ senator helps at this stage? any ideas?

Thanks!

I understand it is a tough wait (I am just as impatient), but like @OldUser said, it is normal. Some people get interviews scheduled 2 weeks after applying, for others it takes 9 months or more...and while which field office you are with does play a role, it is still not FIFO. People who filed after you at the same field office may have interview and oath before you. While "clean cases" probably do get processed faster, the largest factor is just plain luck (probably based on which officer your case is assigned to and their case load.

You can look at May, April filer threads, plenty of people there who are still waiting for interview, and they have clean cases too. So I wouldn't think anything is wrong. I would reserve the congressional enquiry route for a 9 month mark. For now, as hard as it is, you just really can wait.

Also I know that NYC is REALLY slow, like 9+ months is normal there. I don't know about Newark, but being so close to NYC, and with such high population of immigrants, I would imagine it can't be much faster than NYC. So there is that additional factor for you.

Thanks for the response, I agree that one has to just wait - a foregone conclusion :)

a few facts on timings though - it is not as simple as NYC or bigger cities are slow and smaller areas are fast

1) If you look at USCIS official processing time data for N400 per FO, Seattle is the fastest in the country and has massive load
2) in Newark, NJ "80% of cases" end to end - meaning filing -> biometrics ->interview scheduled->Interview-> decision-> oath is 7.5 months. but key number is 80% cases. Median is around 3 to 4 months. USCIS puts out hyper inflated numbers for enquiries because they want you to reach a statistical bottom <1% before you can actually file an inquiry etc.
3) a smaller FO Cranbury NJ the same 80% metric is 8.5 months (more than Newark or Seattle, etc)

4) Those who apply via paper filings are also included in these ranges. it is usually longer for them for obvious reasons

cases applied online and biometrics re-used right away are usually the shorter end of the curve and that is evident in many forum self reported data.

So technically yes, 103 days is already on the higher side of average, albeit not totally an outlier yet. that is why i was anxious to enquire if there are specific Newark NJ people who can report back for more data points

Thanks!

You summed it up nicely. I think what helps me when I wait on these immigration things (lived in 5 counties, been through this a lot), is to focus on the fact that my case is NOT the outlier, and decide not to worry about it until it is. Harder said than done for sure. But it is what I tell myself whenever I reach a state of frustration or impatience or paranoia. Have you checked your API / JSON notes? That helped me bear through the wait.

You may have already found this, but just incase, this is records of people with Newark office who update timeline on VJ. https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/citlist.php?op6=All&op7=Newark+NJ&op1=3&op2=d&op4=1&op5=

Speaking of which, please do update your timeline as it helps others like yourself who are seeking data points.

On the bright side, the more time passes, higher the likelihood your interview invite is around the corner. If I had do wager, I would say you will get yours around the 120 day mark. Wish you the best!

Thanks! Appreciate the thread link 😄

Seems like all cases on it are marriage based as they are all x & y.

Mine is employment based

Also completely get your advise. I have lived in 4 countries too. Been in usa over 23 years. Went through tonnes of immigration stuff. Eb1a or extraordinary ability category is the basis for the green card. With 3 masters amd tonnes of work experience have been thru F1, opt, h1b, had, GC ..you name it 😄

From the tracker link here-

got chat gpt to work on all data points in newark with filing date post Jan 2024. Only actual interview dates are given. However interview notice (schedule) to actual interview is ALWAYS a tight band of 35 to 42 days (5 to 6 weeks). So told chatgpt to reduce 38days from interview date to get the interview notice date.

Median of a sample of 14 data points is 92 days (filing to interview scheduled). So newark FO seems faster than national avg of 100 days as per lawfully app data analytics

There might be some bias as all are marriage based (or it appears from their handle names of A &B etc)
