N-400 decision cannot be made 🤔

Combo Interview - I-751 & N400

Greetings, 

I had my combo interview on the 13th. It went well, passed the tests and received a form that says “Decision cannot be made at this time”. 

I first was asked to do the civic test then the english test. She followed up with the questions for the N400 and my travel history. I was missing some recent travels so we updated them together. 

Afterwards, she brought my wife, son and me into the office. She asked her my name, DOB and how we met. She also gave me daughter and American flag and at the point I swear I was approved on the spot. 

She asked for my recent tax docs which I gave her. We filed jointly and owe no money. She tried to scan the documents but it seems as if her printer wasn’t working so she asked me if she could keep the documents to which I said yes. 

She said she couldn’t make a decision at this time but I will receive a decision in the mail once she completes review of the document. 

Is this normal and whats my timeline looking like?

This is not unique. Many people, even the ones without combo, have decision and oath on different days. While I can't give you exact timeline, I'd imagine you'll hear from them within the next 30 days. If not, you can sue USCIS for decision 120 days after the interview.

This is routine, I was also told this at my N-400 (not combo) interview. Often they have to get a supervisor to check everything before they can approve.
