A Texas high school star athlete was stabbed in the heart and left to die in his loving twin brother’s arms following a fight over a seat at a track meet, the boy’s heartbroken father said.
Metcalf, a junior at Frisco ISD’s Memorial High School, was in the stands at the stadium when a confrontation broke out between the teen and 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony.
Anthony, a senior at Centennial High School, was allegedly told he was sitting in the wrong seat before he drew a knife and launched his attack, Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.
Anthony, 17, allegedly stabbed Metcalf in the chest as his victim’s brother, Hunter, watched in horror.

Strikes chords like the Brett Cooper interview with Shawn Ryan, where we learned that one of her older brothers died in high school during a rowing competition, leaving behind a twin brother who has struggled with addiction and schizophrenia ever since.

 

It is definitely going to be a tough road for Hunter Metcalf.  I hope Brett reaches out to him.

People are raising questions about a possible self-defense claim but I'm sorry, a kid died and lots of lives ruined in this, including Anthony.  The angle I imagine a lot of these donors have is that their interpretation is innocence all the while new information is coming out, and a trial hasn't been set yet.

 

This is just another way to sideline due process.  Laws should be in place to ensure fundraising for legal defense funds is the only legal way of funneling money to defendants.  It is inappropriate in so many ways for a family, who I feel are culpable in the crimes of minor, to receive supportive funds.  Not the first time GoFundMe has been a filter for unethical acts, of course.

Austin Metcalf's family targeted by 'swatting' call Thursday, Frisco police say

 

FRISCO, Texas - Frisco police were called to the home of 17-year-old stabbing victim Austin Metcalf's family on Thursday.

Police later described the call as ‘swatting.’

Metcalf was stabbed and killed at a track meet on April 2. The family of the murder suspect, 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony, held a news conference earlier in the day on Thursday.

Police say officers responded to the home, but then determined there was no shooting.

This is at least the second time the Metcalfs have been subject to a swatting incident.

Frisco police say it also happened on April 8.
