Log into your MyUSCIS account and then in another tab enter the following URL

https://my.uscis.gov/account/case-service/api/cases/Your IOE Number

Put your receipt number at the end where I put "Your IOE Number" and you will get an API readout. In there you will see a section that says "updatedAt": with a date after it. That date is usually  the last time someone at USCIS opened your case file

Actually decided to try this again, since it previously was always stuck at 8/5, but now it's 10/3 and no update in the status. Does this usually mean anything?

Just curious if anyone has any idea, but if my wife's medical report expires before they make a decision from the interview (even if it was valid at the time of the interview), then should we go get a new one to upload without being asked? Also, if we don't receive a decision before 1/1/26, then will we need to submit an updated set of tax returns too?

TL;DR = Just curious, if the filing requirements are cutoff by the filing date, interview date, or the decision date?

You don’t need to do another medical because you submitted it before it expired.

You don’t need to upload anything else, unless they ask for you.

What I learned is that, you don’t need to over do it. Even during the interview they didn’t ask that much and I just got approved. It took around 45 days in the Altanta office since the interview

It means they haven’t touched your case yet, there is queue or they are doing finals background checks

That's at least reassuring! Thank you 😇

As for filing a Writ of Mandamus if you pass 100 or so days, I did a little more research on that. The filing fee should be about $400 to $600. Most lawyers will charge $5000-$10000 for this service. I absolutely cannot stomach the latter cost. There is a great DIY instruction thread on reddit. A quick google search and you can find it. The person who did this was successful. Do keep in mind, it is generally not recommended to do this on your own without a lawyer, but it is certainly possible. I personally would not file this until 120 days. 120 days is the standard USCIS "maximum" turn around time for an interview decision.

Just curious, where did you see that? I ask because the inquiry date tool says "The earliest you can submit questions is February 22, 2028. Please do not contact us before this date."

It happens usually with people needing waivers you get it done again.

Because of this verbiage on the notice they are supposed to give you at the end of the interview

This means someone did something with your casefile on 10/03.

I don't know how they calculate the inquiry questions date, but that is irrelevant to a Writ of Mandamus. 120 days is just typical internal USCIS policy. The vast majority of interviews have some action taken before the 120 mark.

This means that someone at USCIS accessed your file on 10/3. Further details are unknown unless other updates were made. At least you know someone is still aware of your case. 😁

They are very busy, lots of cases, and supervisors have to double check everything. So I completely understand why it takes so long.

Not to mention that there have been lay offs as well this year.

The biggest problem with USCIS is that it is funded almost solely by fees. Per a Google search, it is 96% fees and 4% Congressional appropriations. This is not a good funding structure for an organization with this responsibility.

I would not upload anything unless asked. You should keep your tax records anyway regardless of USCIS.

Don't worry about medical either.

Who do you propose should pay for our immigration petitions?

I agree with this 100%. After the interview, just let them do their thing. They will ask you if they need something.
