I haven’t received it. Do I have to go to SSA to ask for it personally? I thought I will receive an updated SSC together with my EAD but I didn’t. I’m already employed.

I have received my SSN before marrying and it had restrictions. I thought USCIS informed SSA when my EAD got approved.

Enumeration Beyond Entry isn't working properly anymore with SSA.

Just go to SSA office after scheduling an appointment and get updated social security card without restrictions.

The new SS card without the restrictions shall be sent once residency  (i485) is approved. Since you only have EAD for the moment, so still with restrictions..

@AsercDid you have to do anything for them to send you a new one?

My wife SS card has the same DHS thing on her card so I was unsure if I needed to go to a SSA office to have it removed.

Didnt do anything at all. It just came in the mail.. i was hoping to ask about that here after my residency card arrives but they beat me to it! So i guess USCIS coordinated with SSA and they are faster in changing the document. ETA of my residency card will be on Sat as per USPS.

I read on some other sites or posts on reddit tho that some states do not do it automatically. Some did go to SSA and updated their cards.

Congratulations on the positive result of the interview!

It depends whether you checked box on I-485 to get new SSN card and whether you get lucky.

If you don't receive it within a month, just get appointment at SSA and get replacement card. Typically you can fill form SS-5 to get replacement card with no DHS wording on it.

Why is it important?

Because you never want to show GC to employer. Many HRs don't understand how immigration works. Especially with 2 year GC, they start freaking out when it expires and ask for new GC and or don't believe the extension letters.

So the best course of action is showing unrestricted SS card and valid DL / state ID for I-9. Employer cannot demand to see GC, they must accept List B + List C documents which SS cars and DL are.

So we arrived at our interview a little bit too early. Security told us to come back no later than 30 mins (we were 7minutes early for 30 minutes 🤣)

After going through security we sat down and waited with 7 other couples that also came in the same time as us.
After 5 minutes from the appointment time people started being called in. We were the fourth couple to be called in.

Had a lady for the interview had us both come in together and after swearing ourself in she asked if we had any paperwork to give and we gave her updated medical paperwork which was looked over and scanned.

surprisingly i was asked more questions than my wife 🤣

was asked the year i met my wife.
my favorite filipino foods which i said was adobo and ended asking my wife how to make chicken feet adobo cause she wanted to make

who introduced me to my wife

do i like visiting Philippines

we mentioned traveling to new york and she said do be careful with all that is going on

do you like where you live

is the address on file your physical or mailing address

and just some small talk about foods, what we do after work, where we work, etc

afterwards she said we are approving your case today just the system is a bit slow today ❤️

Then told us when to apply for removal of conditions and when can apply for citizenship if she wants

and that was it. We left maybe a hour after arrival to interview and its done ❤️

just waiting for her case to be updated on myuscis now

also of note while awaiting for being called in received and email about case being updated but after logging in nothing had changed.

thank you to all for the help and support and wishing all those waiting too a good interviews too 🥰

Great news and thank you for sharing!! :) When you handed the sealed I-693, did you explain it was because of the missing Polio vaccine?

My wife was at the SSA yesterday for an appointment so she asked on my behalf and she got told that I needed to book an appointment to update the SSN card. So I rang the local SSA office and booked an appointment for in 3 weeks time.
