Should be fine... EAD is a "Real ID" so you can use that for TSA at the airport. Jaycel and I did a flight from CO to FL and that's what she used. There were zero issues. She also brought her passport with her and a copy of the receipt notice for the I-485 to show she has an application pending. Never needed it, but we wanted to have it just in case she was questioned.

Have her EAD, also have her State ID (no driver license for now) will also bring her passport, receipt notice as well and will bring a copy of our marriage certificate. Her passport has her maiden name so already filed for the name change but the Philippines Consulate sent the paperwork in and told us at least 6 months before we can file to get her passport updated.

This is good... we keep a digital copy on our phones but for the trip we actually took a copy with us. Jaycel's passport still has her maiden name too.... Waiting on the DFA to transmit our ROM details to the PSA. The San Francisco consulate screwed up. See my update below.... 🤣

I still have a original copy of my marriage certificate and I tried to get more they let us order more copies online and usually takes 6 to 8 weeks now its been 3 months with no update. They have three numbers you can call 2 are no longer in service the other nobody picks up and even the email nobody answers. 🤣

The consulate here makes us email pictures of all the paperwork first before we can even send anything in. The first time I did the notary I used put their seal on a spot where the consulate didn't want it so when I redid it they said it was fine and after I sent the paperwork in like 4 days they sent back what they needed with an attached paper stating in about 6 months you may apply for the update passport with the updated name. lol.

Since my wife interview has been scheduled I have another question for anyone who can answer.

A week later me and her will be on vacation traveling to see my family in the USA mainland. It should still be safe to travel while they make a decision on her case after the interview? Also if by any chance they do make a decision like approved while we are on vacation should I be concerned since if approved she would need her greencard right away?  Unfortunately I cannot change the vacation plans now that is my main concern now.

She's fine travelling inside the US while waiting for GC. Safe trips!

It would be a different story if you had an overseas trip. If you were to pick between vacation and her staying in the US, I think most likely you'd choose her getting legal status, right?

Only thing I not really sure of is the medical:

Her medical she did for the K1 visa expires in mid July but from all the notices I have received so far I did not get anything about doing another medical exam for her. For my understanding as long as the AOS was filed within 1 year of the medical being done we should be ok unless they ask for it.

We will bring a copy of her medical exam from that time just in case though for the interview.

One of my RFE was the Affidavit of Support which I did send in and after that the interview was scheduled but I will fill another one out and bring the required tax papers just in case as well.

My gosh it's alot of stuff to check for and make sure I have lol. Little bit stressed now.

Almost done with the hardest part! :) I just wish Denver field office wasn't one of the slowest in the country :( We found some fellow Denver AOS filers on Reddit that are still waiting also and it looks like for this FO the average wait time between filing and interview is 9-12 months so we have a while to go now. We're hoping that with interviews being the norm now, they can get into a rhythm and streamline that a little. Someone that filed in Sept. 2024 just got their interview notice a couple weeks ago. They are 2 months prior to our file date so hopefully we'll get a notice in the next 4-6 weeks 🤞

Her medical from the K-1 would only expire in the middle of July if you didn't file the I-485 before then. The medical is valid as long as you filed within 1 year of her completing it. It doesn't matter how long USCIS takes to process the I-485 at that point. You fulfilled the requirements

Hi everyone,
I hope you're all doing well! I wanted to share my timeline so far:

 January 31, 2025 – Package sent
February 15, 2025 – Welcome to USCIS account letter
 February 17, 2025 – I-485 update
 March 4, 2025 – Biometrics appointment
 April 17, 2025 – EAD Approved
 April 22, 2025 – EAD Mailed
 April 27, 2025 – EAD Received
 May 12, 2025 – Interview Scheduled

I’m getting a bit nervous about the interview — I’d love to hear from anyone who’s already gone through it!
What should I expect? Any tips or things you wish you had known before? Feel free to share your experience, I’d really appreciate it! 😊

Congrats!! When is your interview? Jaycel and I are still waiting for our interview to be scheduled so I only have advice I have heard from attorneys and other's accounts who have had their interview:

1. Bring the certified true copies AND a copy of any documents you submitted with your application (birth/death certificates, divorce decrees, etc.) from US Citizen spouse petitioner and foreign applicant

2. Bring any correspondence you have received from USCIS and any cards you have received (EAD Card, NOAs)

3. Bring updated evidence of your marital bona fides you have accumulated since filing

4. Updated I-94

5. Your IDs (Both spouses)

6. Bring everything that the appointment letter lists as it applies to you

7. Don't be late - Just read an account of someone checking in 3 minutes late to their appointment and the officer came out and said that they would have to re-schedule them for another day

Good luck! Come back and share your experience with us! :)
