Hello people!

My parents filed their N400 applications in January and have their interview scheduled for early next week (on two separate days). My father's case is pretty simple however we does owe taxes but has documentation from the IRS stating that he has a payment plan set up which starts on September 1st 2025. My mother filed the N648 Medical Waiver as she has cognitive disabilities where she cannot learn English. I just wanted to know what are the chances of them getting the same day oath taking? Much obliged for your input. Thanks!

Nobody here would know. Mention it to officer during both interviews, and maybe they can help. It depends on office and how busy it is.

What is the format for the current history/civics test? Do they use a tablet with written questions and multiple choice answers or oral questions and oral/written answers?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

They ask up to 10 questions (oral exam) and stop when you get 6 questions right.

They also ask you to write a sentence on tablet

There's no multiple choice style questions for oral exam. E.g. they don't say options to you. You need to give them answer yourself.

For sentence, they tell you what to write.

I am glad I asked, my wife said she saw Youtube videos rehearsing interviews where they mentioned tablets for the civics test. (I am skeptical about info like that)

Thank you @OldUser

Can confirm, 7/7 interview. The civics test is oral, and there are no multiple choices given to you. You have to know the answer, and the answer must be oral as well. The written test is on a tablet. You are given a tablet to read a sentence. Then you have to write that same sentence (at least that was my case) back on the tablet.

then went through my application with my travel history (focused on longer than a week ones), corrected couple items I had, and got the Certificate of Naturalization after the same-day oath at 2pm!

what question on the travel history? i assume they asked why and where right? i ask because we travel a lot, every winter 4 months in thailand to avoid the crappy NY winter and then europe in the summer. we're retired so we have nothing else to do. any advice on what to answer to their questions?

Has LPR met physical presence and continuous residence requirements for N-400?

My case status was recently reworded from 'Case Is Being Actively Reviewed' to 'Case Is Still Being Processed by USCIS.' Is that normal? I’ve been waiting almost six months now, so I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it.

Yes, it's normal. It's new wording for the same status.

Silly question about N-400? Maybe not.

Part 16, Oath of Allegiance, clearly states is to be used at the naturalization ceremony.

The question is, if at the interview you may be tested about your knowledge of this oath either by knowing it by memory or explaining it in your own words?

(We understand that PART 9 question 32 asks if you understand the Oath of Allegiance.)
