So almost 3 months after the petition was approved and several inquiries, and finally after getting our state representative to help move the case along, we are documentarily qualified (DQ).

I’m guessing in about 6 weeks, we should get the interview notice, which is probably gonna be about 6 weeks out from there. So just 3-4 months worth of process remaining!

Depends on the consulate. Could be a couple of months until they get an interview, could be a couple of years (or anywhere in between).

Good luck, hope they’re not at a consulate with a big backlog.

Got email notices on my USCIS account and this is the update I got..

Is this typical?  Whats the point of this when they have taken 20+ months already and nothing has moved....

As of June 23, 2025, we are actively reviewing your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number IOE91xxxxxxxxxx. Our records show nothing is outstanding at this time. We will let you know if we need anything from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Hopefully a good sign. Most I-130s take 13-17 months. Looks like yours is in 20% of slower cases.

Yes with this administration anything goes :D maybe DOGE fired too many people at USCIS

I even got this on a sibling I130 application.  Any idea how I can find out what the wait is at the Canadian consulate in Montreal for parents' visa?

Thanks!

I would hope sibling I-130s are a low priority since it takes 2 decades for visa numbers to become available.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

You mean just for the interview once the I-130 has been approved and NVC part of the process is complete? About 6 months. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/iv-wait-times.html

As said above, sibling I-130’s take much longer than immediate relative I-130’s as USCIS (understandably) don’t prioritise them as there’s no visa available for a looonnnngg time anyway.

Yes to my surprise why they would put that notice on a sibling I130!!

Awesome thanks for the link!

Finally got the I130 approval for parents (filed October 6 and 10, 2023!!!)  and sibling (filed December 13, 2023).

Is the NVC process consular filling pretty easy to do on my own? or hiring a paralegal/lawyer now is helpful?

Thanks!!!

Wow, sibling one was approved super quickly. Does your brother/sister have kids? Usually you want their I-130 to take as long as possible to try and avoid any dependents aging out in the future.

Most people on here do the NVC part themselves, but have a look as it's laid out step by step so you can see what you think. As long as you follow the instructions carefully and read everything then you should be fine - https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/step-2-begin-nvc-processing.html

Okay thank you for the tip!! I just didnt think I have energy to do this part, perhaps I'll do some research and shed my fear.

The petition was your bit but now it’s their visas to apply for so let them crack on with it!

Shame about the 3 year old but at least by the time your sibling is eligible s/he will be an adult so they don’t need to worry about leaving him/her alone.
