I think people who've been to third world countries like Vietnam understand why we help support our fiancee while she is there. I'm not saying anything bad about Vietnam. I'm actually very fond of Vietnam and always enjoy my time there with my fiancee's family. However, comparing the situation of a fiancee in a modern country and third world country is comparing apples and durian.

Cheers.

John

Comparing apples and Durian!!! That's great!! Thanks for making me smile, John! :)

Warm Regards,

Samby

Withdraw the cash from you bank and keep the receipt. Travel to meet fiancee. Have them sign and date the receipt and state they have the money and take a picture. :)

I don't see how you can prove it, unless you use WU or hand it off in person. Any significant cash should never be sent via the mail, since those letters have a nice chance of getting 'lost.'

That would work but in most cases I would advise against mentioning that any money was given to a fiance abroad. It is unlikely to help in any case except one that fits the profile fraud of the USC getting paid to assist the foreigner in getting a visa. Even then, going to the trouble of documenting a single transaction may look like a "cover story" and make the case look even more fraudulent.

Giving money does not really help as evidence of bona fides.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Problem with Skype there isn't a lot of proof that we talk becides screen shots.

I won't clutter this thread with it, but I downloaded a program that created a spreadsheet of all our Skype PC to PC voice/video calls (date, time, length, etc.). It came out looking like a massive phone bill. I'll put the details in off-topic.

Thanks. Thats too funny they didn't even look hehehe

The question is what is your opinion regarding the disclosure of any financial support that you may have given in terms of its potential impact on the CO at the visa interview: Irrelevent?, Beneficial?, Negative?

Not necessarily. USCIS can look at it and see possible fraud.

1) If you want proof of having given money, don't use cash.

2) Giving money, though, isn't listed as something that proves a relationship on the I-129F. Think about how many people you give money to every day. Dunkin Donuts, newspaper stand, parking lot, sandwich shop, etc. A valid family-based relationship is maybe one where we want to avoid looking like it's a fee-for-service kind of relationship.

Plus, if your case looks sort of fraudulent, no need to give the officer reason to think she's not interested in marriage, but in a ready supply of cash.

3) Absolutely nothing wrong with being generous and helping out your fiancee. It's just not terribly good proof of anything except that you gave her money. Focus on the e-mails and letters and visits to show that you're a legit couple.
