Bummer! Oh well. Not much to do but wait. "What you resist, persists." Therefore, I'm going with the flow. Well, at least trying to

Got an automated message from USCIS today saying they "took an action" on my case. Logged in to check, but the status doesn't offer much detail:

 

As of August 26, 2023, we are actively reviewing your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number XXXXX. Our records show nothing is outstanding at this time. We will let you know if we need anything from you. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

 

I'm willing to be optimistic and presume a specialist pulled my case from the electronic queue for review. Adjudication of a case like this does not take more than a few minutes. Come on...

 

Any updates from anyone?

My petition was approved on 8/28/2023. So... a bit faster than the 13-months committment. Now off to the NVC.

My wife petitioned her mother last November. Case says 2 months. I believe the USCIS date is based on "80%" of all cases are approved by.

 

Looking elsewhere, seems like Nebraska service center is 11-17-2022 for this category.

I received RFE letter on October 10th and submitted documents on October 28th. After submitted case history said 3 weeks, today said 2 months. 😕

Sorry to hear. What was the RFE for? Just in case it is something we can anticipate. Just to give information that I have, ours still says 3 weeks - no RFE yet. Our NOA1 was from Nebraska via electronic filing

I just check USCIS website and said APPROVED in November 10th. RFE was for my birth certificate.

Yesterday case read 1 week and today status says taking longer than expected.

 

Hoping that means something good.

It means their estimates are inaccurate....Sadly, it means nothing else.

Processing time (Nebraska on original notice) changed from the "longer than expected" to "2 months" and within a few days to "4 weeks"

 

As I understand it, USCIS has an estimated date of processing attached to each case. Your estimated processing time remaining is calculated based on that date. If that date is prior to now, it will say "longer than expected."

 

My guess is that they update the dates every so often based on volume and redistribution of case work. Optimistic that this most recent update is somewhat accurate. It's much easier to estimate remaining time for any endeavor when you are closer to completion.

NVC still hasn’t received the visa package from USCIS as I haven’t got the letter yet.

Anyone have updates? Weird that so many that filed the same petition months later have approvals.
