I had my citizenship interview over a month ago and unfortunately I had no idea you could have your oath ceremony the same day. Since I wanted to get my name changed, the officer said I would have to go in front of a judge and they would schedule it at a later date. If I had any idea it could take a while, I would have just kept my name and would have changed it later...

My question is: Would it be ok for me to call them and ask to be scheduled for a regular oath ceremony? Would they have a problem with it or it's best just to keep waiting?

Thanks!!

only a judicial ceremony with a judge swearing you will allow you to change name. these are not scheduled daily.  most uscis offices offering same day oath are done by USCIS officers and they do not have legal power for name change approval.  Only a judge can do that

Yes, I already said in my post that I have to go in front of a judge. By "regular ceremony" I meant to just go do the oath at USCIS and then change my name in court later. But no, they won't let me do this.
