Passport tricks?

Mom (in Cebu) needs a new passport. The old one is lost but long expired. Anyone know any tricks to get an appointment with DFA? It seemed ok for a while when the appointment system required identification and that wasn't transferable. But now it seems like the travel agencies have gotten around that and there are never available appointments.

I was thinking if mom took one of the younger grand kids and got them a passport too, there is some kind of priority or something?

Any other ideas?

Is the mom a senior citizen? If so, I think they allow walk-ins.

With kids its a walk in, they might let her slide in as well but they could also say no of course.

Hi, if money is not a major issue, suggest to book a passport appointment in other DFA locations (in DFA ASEANA Manila or in Cagayan de Oro). There are many slots still. Also, I remember it takes 2weeks-to a month before a passport is released to the applicant.

Also, might be worth calling DFA hotline to confirm if Mom still needs to have an affidavit of loss first (for the lost passport) before booking an appointment.

Priority lane applications used to be walk in.  Not any more.  Unless something has recently changed, appointments are required for those applicants as well.  We flew to Palawan and went DFA in  Puerto Princessa.
