Hi!

Quick question in case anybody has done the same?

My husband & I got married last month in the US and have just filed the i-130. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with changing their surname on their British passport, since I can't really find an answer anywhere online... Do I need to get the extended form of the marriage certificate, notarised and with apostille in order to change my surname when I return to the UK? Will they accept the short form? Or just the extended certificate without all the other steps involved?

Thanks!

I did mine last week.  It was so simple.  I selected renewal with name change.  I had to send the original marriage certificate with the court stamp, and my old passport.  I got the new one back in a week.

I'm still awaiting my old passport and the marriage certificate to be returned, but otherwise it was awesome.

Just to note, we only had one version of marriage certificate, so as long as it has the court stamp, I would expect it to be fine.
