K-1 Medical Exam

My Ukranian fiancé has a medical exam scheduled in Frankfurt, Germany on November 16th but she is not going to be able to make it because of the situation in Ukraine. I scheduled it there because her interview is November 18th in Frankfurt. I am going to have to reschedule both of these appointments because she is having problems in Ukraine right now. I know she can get a medical exam anywhere in Europe because of the situation in Ukraine but is there a resource somewhere that I can use to find available doctors? Also is it possible to request that her interview be moved to a closer location, such as Poland or Turkey?

Thank you for your time!

Your medical appointment sounds very close to the interview date. My wife had her physical examination in Lviv - through IOM - and afterward, she required multiple vaccines, including the Covid vaccine, which may require two injections spread out over several weeks (depends on the vaccine version you get - Johnsons is only one dose). That Covid vaccination needs to be done before the  medical examination can be completed.

Even if my spouse had been fully vaccinated beforehand for all the required vaccines, her medical exam required a blood test and the results can take a few days. The results have to be complete and read by the doctor before the medical examination can be finished. Are you sure you scheduled the medical stuff correctly?

In regards to doing your medical exam elsewhere - the answer is YES. I talked to Frankfurt about this, and they said you can complete the exam at any "CDC approved" medical center. You can often find these listed on the US Embassy website in the country you are thinking to do the exam in ( or you can email the embassy in Poland, for instance, if you want to the medical exam in Poland, and they can tell you what doctors are on the approved list).

I don't know the answer about moving the Visa interview. Good luck with everything!

Thanks, I'm still having problems. She thinks she can get out of the country but it's still going to be difficult. I don't think there is any way she will be able to make it to the interview I've scheduled for so many reasons. I've already rescheduled it once and it appears the embassy won't let me reschedule a second time, so I think I'm going to lose the $800 I paid for her and her daughters. I suppose I need to focus on just getting the medical exam done then worry about the interview. I'm just not sure how long the I-129f approval lasts. Does it expire if she doesn't do the interview within a year or so? This is so frustrating to do this legally. And it sounds weird to say that.

The consulates can extend I-129F petition validity for 4-month periods for up to a year.

They often do this automatically; however, it's best to e-mail the consulate to request extension.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
