Unsure where to put this. I submitted an application to replace my Green Card due to a name error. Receipt date was January 12 2021. According to USCIS, as of September 13 I can submit an inquiry. However, when trying to do so it says my application is still within the posted processing time. Do I wait until tomorrow?

Is the lack of a correct gc preventing  you from working, traveling, getting a drivers license, etc?

If so call USCIS, say “info pass” and request an I-551 stamp

Otherwise I don’t think you will see a new gc for years.

For years? Why is that? It’s already been almost two years. The USCIS website says 15 months. Yes I would like to travel, there is no way I can not travel for years. When I tried infopass earlier this year they said it’s only for emergency in NY

yes

I-90 is not considered a priority. You have your LPR status.  USCIS is prioritizing the cases of those waiting to be citizens or waiting to be LPRs.

I don’t agree with USCIS doing this but that is what it is doing.

Yes USCIS is doing this at several districts  across  the country though some people on Visajourney assure me it is not happening. 😂

It is terrible what USCIS is doing to LPRs with pending I-90s and I-751s.

Book a refundable plane ticket and call again stating that now you have an emergency: your pending travel.  If they still refuse then try the DHS ombudsman, your elected congressional representative, and your federal senators. After that, hire an attorney to file a writ of mandamus and Administrative Procedures Act lawsuit to force USCIS to take action on your I-90. And a second APA to issue you an I-551 stamp.

If you are eligible (https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship-resource-center/learn-about-citizenship/naturalization-eligibility) consider filing N-400.

Only the squeakiest wheels will get attention.

Thank you very much for the help and guidance.

We have a lawyer who just helped us to submit our ROC application so we could ask them to help us with this. I did receive my extension letter. However,  I applied for a replacement to correct my name in Jan 2021 but then lost my actual GC in Jan 2022. So I don't currently have a physical GC to go with the extension letter, which is what is stressing me out. My husband has also told me that he know our senator so that makes me a little hopeful as well. There seems to be a few avenues open for inquiry so I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. I believe I have one more year to go before I can apply for citizenship. I just tried submitting another inquiry request and was able to today.

Oh it is definitely happening. I felt so hopeless when he flat out told me I couldn't get an I-551 stamp. He said that it isn't reserved for emergencies only but just that the NYC office is only accepting emergency appointments. I ended up with a high risk pregnancy and couldn't travel anyway but I really hope to be able to next spring.

On another forum someone else had the same experience you had after calling USCIS for an “info pass”: sorry not sorry but there are no appointments. This person used the Emma feature on USCIS.gov to explain there was a pending job offer and other reasons for needing an I-551 stamp. Someone then called several days later to schedule the appointment.
