Which vaccines need updating? Which ones do I need?

I have the following vaccines:

COV-2022

DIP/PERTUSSIS/TETANUS: 1986

Hep B: 2001

MENINGOCOCCAL: 2001

MEASLES/MUMPS/RUBELLA 1982

POLIO 1986

MANTOUX-TB 2001

TET/DIPTH 2017

Which of these need updating?

Do I need Hep A, Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib), Rotavirus, Pneumococcal disease, and seasonal flu too?

According to this site, https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/civil-surgeons/vaccinations.html#tbl1, I don't need any of em except maybe seasonal flu, since I am 40 years old. Can someone verify?

From:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-10-prepare-for-the-interview/medical-examination-faqs.html

The following vaccinations are required for immigration purposes:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Influenza
  • Influenza type b (Hib)
  • Measles
  • Meningococcal
  • Mumps
  • Pneumococcal
  • Pertussis
  • Polio
  • Rotavirus
  • Rubella
  • Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids
  • Varicella

I wouldn’t worry to much about it. Bring your records to your medical appointment and they will give you any you are missing.

Ya I saw that too, but I also read from someone else that getting Hep A when you're over the age of 18 is pointless, because the CDC doesn't require or recommend it for immigration unless you are under 18. This link backs that up: https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/civil-surgeons/vaccinations.html#tbl1

As far as I've heard, it costs a lot of money to do it that way.

Your Tdap needs to be done- you should be getting that one every 10 years so you're long over due.

Flu shot only in flu season.

I think Hep A was recently added but I will let others who have gone through this recently advise on that one.

Yes get the vaccines with your family doctor or health unit. Many of the Clinics do not do vaccines and will hold your medical until you fax them proof vax.

So i spent A LOT of time worrying and researching this because my child vax records got lost when my parents immigrated to Canada.

Here's where i got them done living in quebec.

  • Hepatitis A - pharmacy,  private insurance covered
  • Hepatitis B pharmacy, private insurance covered
  • Influenza - seasonal in pharmacy
  • Influenza type b (Hib) - this is for very ill people and not provided by quebec unless you are very immunocompromised
  • Measles - went to CLSC, our small medical providers. it was free but scheduled over month in advance. this is the MMR and its a must.
  • Meningococcal - pharmacy, private insurance covered.
  • Mumps - went to CLSC, our small medical providers. it was free but scheduled over month in advance. this is the MMR and its a must.
  • Pneumococcal - pharmacy, insurance covered
  • Pertussis - pharmacy insurance covered
  • Polio - pharmacy insurance covered
  • Rotavirus - only needed for babies. According to what i read on this sub, its not required unless youre a baby.
  • Rubella -went to CLSC, our small medical providers. it was free but scheduled over month in advance. this is the MMR and its a must.
  • Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids - pharmacy, govt covered if i recall
  • Varicella - had it as a child, doctor only verbally asks if you had

so if i were you, i would get the missing ones done.... you never know if the doctor is by the book but tthis is the official CDC list. Every immigrant needs to have at least 1 dose of each.

It was Hep B vaccination that was recently added as a requirement for adult applicants.  But there are visa medical clinics that offer Hep A/B combo vaccines, which may have led to the confusion that Hep A vaccination is also required for adults.

Seems like you know what's up. Which ones do I need to get prior to the appointment? Do we follow this?

 https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/civil-surgeons/vaccinations.html#tbl1

Thanks!

For adults -- Td/Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hep B, Flu (seasonal), COVID.

If you've had chickenpox before, the clinic may take your word for it and not require Varicella vaccine.  Full series of shots for COVID will be required prior to the medical, but boosters not required for immigration purposes.

So don't need to worry about pneumoccocus, hep A, and flu type B?

No need.  Just the ones I listed above are required for your age group.
