I am living in UAE. I have a family residency visa. My visa sponsor is my father. I have been issue a IR1 visa from US embassy. Can I leave the country without cancelling my UAE residency visa?

That’s a bit like riding 2 horses at the same time. Each country has their own rules , attached is an easy read internet source regarding the “automatic “ cancellation for UAE residency visa for stays outside longer than 6 months…BUT listing some exceptions.
Try getting some legal consults before you leave and see if you meet the exceptions or have other options.

On the US side , once you enter and you have the need to go out for an extended period ( up to 2 years) you can apply for a re-entry permit (I-131) and will not jeopardize your green card /LPR status.

Ok. For anyone having the same issue. Please cancel your visa before departure date or arrive as early as possible at the airport on the departure date where you should be able to cancel your visa inside the airport.

It was a nightmare for us. First few days before departure we went to the some approved office to cancel it and they said that you don't have to worry about it. So we went to the airport on departure date without cancelling it and they said that we have to cancel it before we can leave. We had a very short time left for the plane take off. Worst day ever. Ran from place to place to cancel it within a short time. Amount to cancel it was DH500. Luckily we had the money with us.  Phew!
