We received an email yesterday from the Ankara embassy in turkey asking for a copy of my husbands renewed passport. Just a little background…We have been in admin processing for 9 months now. My husband had his passport renewed a couple months ago because we knew the expiration date was approaching. Is this a good sign or just regular procedure that they need his new passport…. We haven’t hear anything from them at all so it was excited to finally hear something from them but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much. Has anyone had experience with this?

It's a good sign, but don't expect too much.  Remember that the only true indication of visa approval is when CEAC status turns to "Issued".

good sign as they are verifying the renewed passport

but they should also require a new medical exam as obivously his has expired

visas expire 6 months from date of the medical

Our admin processing was complete and they asked to send in passport. Hypothetically, how long would it take for the embassy to issue the visa after passport was sent in and received at the embassy?

No guaranteed timeline.  Wait for the CEAC case status to turn "Issued".  After "Issued", the passport is typically released for delivery/pick-up within 2 weeks.

Our administrative processing was completed after about 10 months. They asked to redo medical exam and send in my husbands passport. The embassy in Ankara has had his passport for almost 3 weeks now. Their website says the average wait for a completion of application or request for additional documents is 5 days. I do know they recently changed addresses and could be a part of the delay but this just seems excessive to me. Does anyone have experience with this or any insight? Seems like this is just never ending. Once we think we are getting closer we are actually not.
