Hello guys so I am a US citizen and filing for my mom. She’s been a widow for about 9 years now. She never remarried and was married to my late dad for close to 30 years. She has no idea where their marriage certificate is.They actually never had one because it was a normal traditional wedding. Neither does she know where the current death certificate of the late husband is. What can I do? Im at the NVC stage and they asked for divorce or death certificate. How can I get one from Ghana?

Forgive me but I am a bit lost…if your mom “ never remarried “ who died ? Is the reference to “late dad” for the same man you call her “ late husband “?

Visa Reciprocity for Ghana will show who to contact for marriage/death certificates . Here’s link

Ok. The link has all the info for getting the death certificate you need and hopefully the turnaround time of 14 days is correct.

Procedure for Obtaining:  Death records that are more than one year old are deposited with the Office of the Registrar of Births and Deaths for Ghana, C/O Ministry of Local Government, P.O. Box M.270, Accra, Ghana. Certificates are usually issued within 14 working days.

Op, go to the Registrar of birth and death in Accra. They'll help you get the death cert. It's not a cumbersome process at all. DM me if you need more help but as I said just go there; it's an easy process.

Thank you very much.

I want my brother to look again to see if he can find it. If not I will definitely hit you up.

My mom has been a widow for 9 years now and Im trying to bring her over to the United states. She was still married to my dad at the time of his death. NVC keeps asking me to provide a death certificate(which I assume is for my dad) and I did submit it but was rejected.Below is what they sent me after rejecting my dads death certificate(the picture below). My question is, has anyone tried to bring a parent who lost their significant other and if they had to present a death certificate or what form of information? Please I need help. Kindly assist me guys. Thanks.

Other posters above already provided the info on how to get the correct death certificate.  Did you submit the correct one to NVC?

Document Name: Certified Copy of Entry in Register of Deaths

Issuing Authority: Registrar of Births and Deaths of Ghana
