Abandonment of Permanent Residency status

Hi everyone,

 

Can any one assist on this question:

 

A day ago, I abandoned my US permanent residence status, at the point of entry. I had not applied for a visa in advance which would have covered the period after relinquishing my US permanent status. The immigration officer was super kind, he obtained me an entry visa which is valid for 5 months even though i am only in country for 9 days and still went ahead and waived the visa application fee.

 

The question i have is even though the process got successfully completed at the point of entry, do i still need to inform someone of this change in my permanent residency status other than the IRS and is there a process i might be missing which i should do immediately afterwards?

No all will be updated by CBP and USCIS   Did you sign an I 407 form at POE ? Did you hand over your  GC ?
