I need help understanding the correct documents required for the Police and Court Records from Thailand. All of my other documents including the Police Certificate was approved, but this one section has held up our approval. I have read the instructions on what he needs to obtain, but I keep getting different information from the Courts in Thailand. My husband does have a previous history, but has been cleared. When he went to the courts in Bangkok they told him he has to go to Krabi where his original offense was. He has gone there and received a letter standing he no longer has any felonies. What else more is required? I don't want to upload and wait another 2 months to be told this is again rejected. Thank you for your time!

Saying he "no longer" has any felonies implies that he did have a felony/felonies conviction in the past.  If so, he needs to supply all of the records pertaining to that/those conviction(s) -- arrest records, court records, jail/prison records.  Did he follow the procedure for Court/Prison Records found at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Thailand.html ?

I'm not familIar with the Thai judicial system, so can only discuss what's needed by using language from the US system -- hope you can "translate" tbe following into what is available within the Thai judicial processes.  If there are no longer any existing official records of a conviction or other outcome of a court case, that needs to be documented by court officials.  A letter would need to specify there was no record of the past conviction/court proceeding and, ideally, explain why -- for example, he was cleared of all charges, records are only kept for XX number of years, the conviction was expunged, a pardon was given and records destroyed, etc.  Does your letter say anything like that or does it just say he "no longer" has any felonies, which appears to mean there are currently no outstanding charges against him?

Thank you Jan22 for your reply. Yes, he did have previous felonies which I have acquired docs from the court system and I was hoping if anyone else had final documents that have been accepted from NVC that could help clarify if I have the correct issuing authority.

Good chance no member who sees your question has a Thai spouse with a criminal record.  You get what Dept. of State website tells you to get.  Jan22 gave you the link.  Have you read the information there?

Have you complied by obtaining the exact documents specified in those instructions?
