Hello,

I am a US citizen and my wife has her green card (all conditions removed). We are moving to Korea where I will take on a new job. Do we still need to file for a re-entry permit. We are keeping a home here in the USA and we do intend to come back after 3 years.

Would appreciate your insights.

What type of job? Will you be working for the US government or a private Korean company?

Private company

She'll need to apply for the re-entry permit.

Be aware it is only good for 2 years so she'll have to return after 2 years and apply for another one.

File both I-131 and N-400.

Come back to USA at least once every 180 days and stay long enough to maintain 50 percent physical present in the USA in the siincr start of the eligibility period (three years prior to filing N-400). Hopefully she will take oath before another I-131 is needed.

Korea doesn't allow dual citizenship (in this situation) so she might not want to naturalize.
