Hi guys,

I'm really happy because finally my interview was scheduled. I have a question regarding the interview, does my husband (sponsor) needs to bring his birth certificate to the interview? I'm asking because he's a naturalized US Citizen (we have naturalization certificate and US passport) but we don't have his birth certificate.

When I sent my original packet, I didn't include his birth certificate and I never got an RFE asking for it.

Thank you in advance.

My wife’s I-485 interview notice asked for my birth certificate which seemed wrong since I was naturalized.  I brought both my foreign birth certificate and naturalization certificate. The IO asked for my naturalization certificate.

I have heard of IOs asking for the birth certificate of the foreign born citizen spouse at an I-485 interview.  It would be unusual.  The probability of this be asked for is low enough that I would not worry about it.

We brought my birth certificate and they did ask for it at our interview. They also made copies of the birth certificate while we were there. The document for the interview we received stated that we had to provide evidence of my citizenship.

I am a naturalized citizen, for reference.
