We're in the process for the CR1 visa. We're looking for some advice on tax as my wife (USC) has been working in the UK as a freelancer (she has dual citizenship), and my employer is keen for me to do some freelance work once the visa has been approved.

Are there any organisations that offer legal and tax advice for people in the UK during US immigration process? I'm not sure if it's allowed for people to name advertise specific people on here, but it'd be great to know if this kind of service exists and if people who have used it found it worthwhile.

Thanks in advance!

Can’t help you with an accountant but I frequently help in the Visa Journey Tax Forum. What do you want to know?

Free lancers are considered self-employed by the IRS which is like being a small business owner.  Based on the UK/US  tax treaty, once you move to the US, any income you earn is taxable by the US no matter if the employer or client are in the UK and you are paid in £££ and deposit in a UK bank. It is not taxable by the UK. The treaty protects you from double taxation.
