Hi folks, Sorry, as this must be a frequent question. I arrived in California last week on a CR1 visa, and am trying to figure out how I can legally drive. I've read online that foreign tourists can drive for up to 1 year on a UK license, but fkr new immigrants it's only 10 days. Is this correct from others' experiences? My local DMV is closed for renovations, and it's not super easy to get to a different location without driving. I'm starting work tomorrow which I need to drive for so in a bit of a pickle. Thanks in advance.

I can't say which is faster. But I did home delivery and it was fast. Interviewed midday Thursday, had the passport Tuesday morning.

I had a quick look on timelines and found these dates: IR1CR1 7 July - 12 July [3] 6 July - 14 July [6] 22 June - 27 June [3] 14 June - 20 June [4] K1 31 August - 7 September (both Sundays?) [5] 6 June - 10 June [4] (Interview date - Visa issued [working days]) These are mostly from a few months back and idk how accurate they are. But that's what I found.

Any London embassy reviews recently. I'm particularly interested to know how long it's been taking people to get their passports back.

You can't get them at the embassy but you can get them at the medical. They let me know that i can get them through the NHS and send in the proof, or pay then to do it then and there. I've read that the first option can cause delays so I just took the hit and paid their prices to get it done.

Hi Folks, Visa interview scheduled for THIS THURSDAY! Getting a bit paranoid about a few things and hoping someone here can help: 1. On its checklist for visa interviews, NVC says to bring "Your original marriage certificate, English translation, and a photocopy. A certified copy from the issuing authority is acceptable." The wording here is confusing. We have the original marriage certificate and were planning on bringing a scanned photocopy of that original. Will that suffice or do we need to get a certified copy? 2. For proof of domicile, I plan on bringing a scan of my spouse's passport to my visa interview. Do I need to bring a scan of each page of her passport or will the biometric page suffice?

My household is just me and my husband. My father's household is him, my mother, and my youngest sister. My mother has worked as a doctor in the US for 20+ years, so she's met the 40 quarters requirement. She has not become a citizen and remains a green card holder. -
My husband has his visa interview in London in a couple weeks. We want to add a joint sponsor before the interview because it was asked for at the point of our DQ. The joint sponsor is my father, but he sponsored my mother (a green card holder) decades ago. Will that be an issue? Can he sponsor again? Thanks for any guidance!

For those doing their medical exams in London, we have 2 questions: 1. How did you get your vaccination records? Were the vaccinations listed with dates in your patient care summary sufficient? 2. For those who have ever lived somewhere other than the UK, did you need medical records from every county you have lived? I lived for a couple years in Geneva.... We have our medical on Tuesday and are so nervous! Any tips/last minute reminders would also be welcome. Thanks everyone

Hi! Quick question about the medical check up needed before interview. The instructions say that “If you have any significant/ongoing/previous medical conditions (i.e depression/cancer, HIV etc) please ensure that you bring a report from your GP/Specialist/Consultant regarding this; including, medication, prognosis, management etc. (this includes conditions such as depression, anxiety, diabetes, hypertension etc).” Our GP is at a total loss as to what this report should look like so I want to give really specific instructions. Does anyone have any guidance? This is for a history of anxiety by the way.

We were DQed first try. Hard to know if the aidditional document made a difference, everything just said "ACCEPTED" with no detail. But I guess it's better to play it safe and upload the second one?

Hi folks, I'm about a month out from interview and starting to speak to some organisations about work. I've long understood that a stamped CR1 visa in my passport works as a temporary green card until the actual green card arrives. There are quite a few resources on Google supporting that claim (including many posts on VJ!) But I couldn't find anything obvious on a US government website. Has anyone got a link to anywhere it officially states that the visa works as a temporary greencard?

Unfortunately, though is the advice I didn't want to see, I know you're right. After waiting 18 months I want to get there as soon as possible but really what's 1 or 2 more weeks?

How long does is typically take to recieve passports back after interview? It says to allow 7-10 working days the embassy website but I've heard anecdotally it's more like 3-5. How long did you all leave it to book flights?

Thanks for the info! Booking a medical was easy for me. Loads of availability. But I managed to call within 30 mins of getting the intervew email. I know a lot of people got interviews yesterday so it may start to become tricky.

I was having problems with the courier service recognising my case number. It said it can take up to 5 days for the case to come through to them as ready though so not too worried. Yet.

PD: 10th April 2021 DQ: 12 July 2022 IL: 2 Aug 2022 Interview: 22nd Setember 2022 Lots of 0s, 1s and 2s on my timeline. How long do people normally leave it to book a flight? If I book one a week after interview how much of a risk is that?

I know man! As luck would have it our I130 took over 12 months to process, if it was a processed in the average time we'd have been DQed a long time ago when they were still scheduling interviews. Absolutely rotten luck for us at every stage of the process.
