Legal name / CA Marriage Cert

Hello guys!
So I got married today, yay!!

But I did not forget to ask the county clerk some questions about legal names.

On then marriage certificate, it does state my married name (my last name hyphen husband's last name), but they told me that it's not actually legal till I have to fill out another form with a SSN an DMV (which I do not have yet and requesting SSN on AOS).

I am confused because then do I use the married name on the marriage cert, or do I have to use my maiden name as the legal name on AOS form?

So I am not sure what to do hmmm. I was assuming the marriage cert married name would be the legal name?

1. Apply for AOS in your new name.

2. Receive your new immigration benefit in that name (EAD or GC, whichever comes first).

3. Then can change name on other documents.

4. Never listen to anyone who does not understand the immigrant name change process and tells you the USC name change process instead.
