I have bought so much phone cards and I kept all of them including the receipts. Although most of the time I have used a lan line to call abroad because when I use my cell phone it deducts more minutes. Should I make copies of the receipts of the phone cards and the phone cards itself?

Hello Everyone. Finally go reunited with my fiance and now husband. We are soo happy.... After 2 years since we filed 7/28/07 we received our visa on August 4, 2009... don't give up. if you know USEM is wrong fight for it... We did...

Sure you can, but the travel documents suffice for the most part when it comes to proving you have met in person.

The problem with phone card is that there is not really a record to indicate who you have used them on unless you have some sort of a statement to prove you called her phone number and most phone cards do not provide that information, but are you trying to prove you have met or are you asking about using these as some sort of proof to the validity of your relationship?

Small question...How are your pre-paid phone cards "Evidence of having met within the last two years"?

Records of phone conversations will be needed at the interview to prove "ongoing relationship:....they do not prove the stipulation (on the I-129F) of having personally met your fiance(e) within the 2 years prior to filing the application.

so the phone cards is not good enough evidence of the "ongoing relationship" It was charged on my credit card and I have the receipts.. also I have copies of us chatting online with the web cam.. I clicked and pasted it on a word doc and the date and time are there.. i'm sure this one is a good evidence of "ongoign relationship" what do you think?

The more evidence you can submit the better, but phone cards are not really that good because you could have called anyone using a phone card. You have to prove you were in an ongoing relationship with her and talking to her and so you would have to prove that you called her phone number and phone cardds do not help you in this case.

You started this thread and stated that you are trying to provide proof of having met and that would mean that you would provide travel documents.

If you are trying to prove validity of the relationship, then e-mails and letters and phone bills would apply, but phone cards do not help you to obtain that. The chat logs are okay, but you should work on trying to obtain more evidence such as sworn affidavits from friends and families on both sides of the family and from both countries. You should try to get people to certify them in front of a notary when they sign it because it helps.

All my husband and I really had was a bunch of sworn statements when we filed and then he took chat logs and all that other stuff with him to the interview.

You should check out the guides CLICK HERE because they can be so helpful

What is it you're trying to prove exactly? Having met w/in the last two years prior to filing your application, or "ongoing relationship"?

Please fill in your timeline (Add/Edit My Entry)..We cannot help you unless you let us know what stage are you at in your 'journey'. Are you just now preparing to file the I-129F? If so, then your job now is to prove what the I-129F instructions say.

Please read the Guides:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

And look at the Flowchart:

These give you a lot of good information.

How do e-mails provide "evidence of meeting in the last two years"? Answer: They do not

However, if you do have evidence that is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a translation.

YMMV

emails, chat logs, pictures are one of the evidences that you need to bring during the interview to prove that you've met and that you have a genuine relationship together but its not only limited to that. you may also need plane tickets/stubs, hotel receipts or any transaction he/she made in your city, money transfer receipt if you have one, snail mails (postal mail), having met your family (photos)... etc...

The threshold is that you need to have met IN PERSON within the last two years. E-mails or chat logs simply do not put you together in the same place at the same time as it only shows that you have exchanged communication via the internet and your location can literally be anywhere in the world. Pictures by themselves may not either, however, pictures in conjunction with passport entry/exit stamps goes a lot further to demonstrate this.

YMMV

Two different things going on here: proof of meeting in person, AND proof of on-going relationship.

When you file the I-129F petition on her behalf with the USCIS, it is the first that you need: proof of MEETING IN PERSON. This is where you need the plane tickets, hotel receipts, photos.

THEN, at the embassy stage when she goes for her interview at the embassy to have the visa issued, it is the second that you need: proof of ONGOING RELATIONSHIP. This is where the chat-logs, eMails, phone-card, etc. come into play.
