Hi All - First, thank you to everyone on this site for your support and encouragement. Yesterday, after more than 10 months of waiting, we received our NOA2.

A few questions:

1. How long are visas taking with NVC right now?
2. What tips, if any, do you have for this step in the process?
3. Once in the US, can my fiancé travel around the US with me? I’d like to introduce him to my parents before we get married.

Thanks!

Impossible to answer how long petitions stay at NVC. Depends on how fast the consulates work and the backlog. You should check out the Bogota thread to gauge how long it might take:

In 3-4 weeks start calling the NVC to receive your case #. You can track the status on CEAC. You’ll have to wait until it says “In transit” then “Ready”. That again depends on how fast the consulate is working.

Yes. Do marry within 90 days and file for AOS promptly to avoid any potential problems.

Congratulations!
My K1 petition sat in NVC for about 2 months before being sent to Bogota, just to give you an idea. But it does depend on the embassy’s capacity so timing can vary. Scheduling an interview has been challenging- there just haven’t been any appointments available ever since we’ve been eligible to schedule. Something tells me there will be a block of new slots opening up at some point, but when that happens no one seems to know.
Yes, once your fiancé does get to the US, they can travel with you wherever you want within the US. They just cannot leave the country until you’ve been married and they’ve received their green card (or obtained a waiver).
