Canada Passport Expiring - NVC

Hello,

I apologize if this question has already been asked. I am a Canadian Citizen and my US Spouse is sponsoring me. My case currently is at the NVC and I am in the process of submitting my civil documents. One of the documents they require is the biographic page of my Canadian Passport. I have uploaded this however, my passport is set to expire in June 2022. I was reading ahead about the next steps in the immigration process and in their "Pre-Interview Checklist" they say to bring "Unexpired passport valid for six (6) months beyond your intended date of entry to the United States and a photocopy of the biographic page (where your name and photo are located).". By the time my interview is scheduled, I do not think my passport will be valid for 6 months beyond my intended date of entry. Am I reading this wrong?

I of course plan on renewing my passport but, I am unsure when I should do so. Do I upload my current passport as is to their online application center and then get my passport renewed before the interview date? Or do I have to renew my passport right now before even uploading on their website?

Thanks for the help everyone!

Yes, upload your current passport bio page to CEAC, then bring your renewed passport to the visa interview.  Do not delay NVC document submission just to renew a passport that isn't expired.

This makes sense. Thanks so much for the help, Chancy!

You're welcome!

Also, before your interview (but after DQ), upload to CEAC a scan of the bio page of your renewed passport.  This is one of the tips mentioned in the FAQ thread for applicants in Canada --

Don't know why - but I just saw this. That's a great tip! I'll make sure to do that.

Thanks again!
