Hello :)

I have a question regarding applying for a fiance visa, hope someone can help me out :)

My fiance, who is an American citizen, hasn't been working for over a year, and doesn't have regular income.

We are both students at the moment, and can't really get a full time job.

Can it affect the visa approval? Do they check only the bank account, or working history as well?

Do we  have other options?

He's school finishes in March 2022, and that's the earliest he could start a full time job, but we would want to start filling out the papers as soon as possible and get the process going, since approval might take up to 10 months.

Thank you!

Ola

The American citizen must show proof that they can afford to support the beneficiary. Work history and tax records will be checked.

It would be unusual for things to happen in 10 months so you have plenty of time.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Excactly, if it will take even more then that, it's better to start the process as soon as we can. The question is, if it makes sense if he doesn't have regular income? Or we should wait until he can find a full time work, and then apply.

No need to wait.  There is no financial info submitted with the I-129F petition, and it will likely be close to year before you're at the interview phase.

If after a year, his income is insufficient, he'd have to look at getting a qualified joint sponsor.

I recommend you both start reading and researching the entire process.  It is expensive, time consuming, and requires some education to avoid delays and additional expenses.

Lot of issues with the K1 presume you have reviewed them
