How long do I have to file for a DS-160

Hi everyone. My fiancee (petitioner) just got an e-mail for the NVC saying they will forward the petition to my Consulate and they will contact me when they are ready to process my petition. My question is, once I get the consulate's contact, how many days (or months) do I have to file for the DS-160?

You will want to do that ASAP. Took me 2 hours to complete and click “submit”.

My fiancee is still gathering his documents for the affidavit and he needs to send me that. Last time he sent me anything through the mail it took two months for it arrive here (with priority express lol). I guess with this covid situtation everything is at a really slow pace... I don't wanna schedule the interview or file the DS160 until I have everything gathered. That's why I wanna know what's the deadline.

He can scan and email all the required documents to you, so you should receive everything within a few minutes.  No need to send anything through the mail or priority express.  Good luck!

I read that the affidavit must be the original signed in ink, so he needs to send me that.

Anyways if anyone know what's the deadline I highly appreciate it. I read somewhere that the k1 request approved by NVC is only canceled after one year, thank god I don't need all this time lol, but just to make sure.

When they refer to signed in ink they mean not a stamp -which some people use as signature-.

As @carmel34 said, ask him to scan the signed form, so you can print at home and avoid the delivery services costs and inconveniences.

 

Regarding validity of the approval -if nothing has changed-, it is valid in periods of four months that can be renovated 3 times -so, the total is indeed a year-.
