Hello,

My fiance is a dual French/Mexican national. We applied for the K1 visa in France, and the case was approved, and the interview is slated to take place in France. Now my fiance is in Mexico (long story). I called USICS, explained the situation, and the agent replied as if this was no big deal. He said he would file the interview transfer request (to interview in Mexico) on my behalf. A few days later I received an email notice to file an I-824 and pay about a $450 filing fee. The agent never mentioned this on the phone. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice? Thank you!

Why did you call USCIS?  Where is the petition currently?

YMMV
