U.S. Unable to Deport Most Illegal Immigrants Who Commit Crimes

The USA will never be able to accommodate everyone that wants to come here. And we will never stop illegal immigration by embracing and enabling it through endless amnesties. Seven amnesties are enough and it it high time to put a stop to retarded policies that are the problem and not even close to being the solution.

That's really the very center of it all. Well said!

Raimondi said the Bush administration isn't ignoring criminal immigrants, and that such raids often uncover illegal activity, such as money-laundering and identity theft.

imagine that.......i think quite a few of us have been saying such happens yet the naysayers deny it.

Where are the apologists and enablers now?

i dunno

Far be it for me to speak for anyone else, but I've always held that those who are illegal and commit crimes should be the first to be deported. I just think in the cases where someone's been here a significant amount of time and otherwise been law-abiding, getting all het up about it is pretty lame.

And I'm reasonably certain the blanket amnesty did not include criminals (as an overstay alone isn't a criminal offense, nor is EWI), so I'm not sure where you're getting the strawmen but I suppose the factory's working overtime these days.

Daniel, it seems nothing will change for the americans. Always afraid of poor people walking across their borders. Always seemingly good at invading defenseless third-world countries. Always good and killing children and poor people.

Full marks for the United States of Err-merica.

Well put. I'm all burned out with talking about this issue right now. Nobody has changed their views after all the threads we've had here in OT. I'm with Daniel - there's nothing new here. Some of us seem to want to fight just for the sake of a fight...that's unfortunate.

And I'm reasonably certain the blanket amnesty did not include criminals...

The Senate specifically rejected to exclude fugitives from the proposed amnesty. ;)

i was wondering who else remembered that

When will more people actually read and understand US Law?

Yes, Title 8 Section 1325 says Illegal Entry is only a Civil Offense.

However, most people ignore the fact that Title 8 Section 1306 clearly states that “Willful Failure to Register” is a Criminal Misdemeanor.

Therefore, and please feel free to discuss this with any Border Patrol Agent or Immigration Attorney, each and every Illegal Alien within the US has committed a Criminal Offense.

The main point I wish everyone would get from this post (and other similar posts) is that US government at all levels is totally incompetent in administering any credible immigration policy. If they cannot fund, administer, and enforce immigration policy in a competent and credible manner maybe immigration should be severely curtailed until they do.

Living in a big city with 25% of the population being foreign born immigrant (and roughly half of those being here illegally) I see what a joke this is each and every day. It's a mess. My stepdaughter has several friends that came over on "student visas" and don't go to school. One guy never has attended school on his "student visa". Besides the masses of border jumpers we have no clue about, the government doesn't track or even have a clue on the whereabouts of people that have come here legally with a multitude of temporary visa catagories.

I see nothing good in this, but there seems to be quite a few folks here that think this is the way the USA should operate. I don't.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

I wasn't directing that at you, peejay. Even though we don't agree on issues, you have always been cordial and civil, which I really admire in you. I don't even mind arguing...in fact some could say I enjoy it too much. :P I just find it a bit juvenile when we all (I'm sure I've been guilty of it) continue egging each other on to get into these long debates over illegal immigration when they end up being circular. I have a good idea where everyone here stands on the issue and I've sobered up to the fact that most people here have pretty much made up their minds on it. It's disheartening though when some mischaracterize other's views, speak on their behalf, or taunt them. The reality is that there are many sides to an argument, and many valid points. Nobody wins a prize here for putting those that don't agree with them down...in fact, they end up looking like losers. I love discuss issues, but when the arguments get reduced to playground tactics, I quickly lose interest.

its on again i see. funny how you can enter a board & when you see the names of who's in it, you already know who's on which side of this topic & their reasoning behind it w/o reading a single post. i've got an idea. noone is changing anyones mind, so lets give it a rest for awhile. there are several intellegent people on both sides of this. one thing i would personally appreciate. is if one of the intellegent people i mentioned, would post a link to the senate, house, dept. homeland security(ice) & both political party hq. so we can all vent & give our opinions to the people we should be bickering & bitching at, to try to get what we want. what do you think?

on more thing...its amnasty..coz it makes it sounds so dirty :P

As many have done, I did share my concerns with my representatives in Congress and know, based on each of their responses and voting patterns, who I may support in the future and who I most certainly won't support.
