What is the fastest and most reliable way to send mail to Mexico? I mailed a letter to the capital of a state at the end of April and it never arrived, but I mailed it regular US airmail.

I've heard DHL and Fedex are the best way to go, but what if I am just sending letters and although it would be of sentimental value, I still prefer it not get lost? Is there a special method with US Mail (like Express with Delivery Confirmation or Return Receipt?) that I could use where it's between $15 to $20 and very reliable?

Well, I have used two different services for 2 types of mail.

For paper ONLY, I used Mejico Express. It used to cost $17 for sending up to 1 lb , if I remember correctly. But, you can only send pictures, money orders, and documents. Nothing else. You send everything to their headquarters along with a money order to pay for the service, and they deliver it within about a week. It is very fast and they can deliver to very small or remote towns. I corresponded with a good friend of mine in Guanajuato this way for about 5 months, and they never lost anything of mine. You can usually find their mailing envelopes in the Mexican tiendas or anywhere they wire or transfer money to Mexico. They have a website, but it only provides a phone number. http://www.groupexfinancialcorp.com/html/contact_us.html

Also, for items like toys, clothes, and presents, I have used regular USPS express mail. If the things are not too bulky, you can just put them in an express envelope. I think it costs about $7, and it will arrive after about 2 weeks. You can pay more for a 3 day delivery, but the USPS can't guarantee what will happen to it after it leaves the US, so, to me, it wasn't worth the extra $15 or $20. If the items are larger, you can use a box and the weight will determine how much you pay. The most I paid once was about $45, but I was sending pants and winter coats.

I hope one of these works for you.

Federal Express. Otherwise, you are dependent on the Mexican mail system for delivery . . . which may never happen.

So it seems Fedex and DHL are the best ways to go...

Is it necessary to hijack a thread posted by someone asking a reasonable question? You all seem to forget that people petitioning for Mexican fiances are obviously going the legal route -- it gets a little timesome always being bombarded with this ####### just because our fiances are Mexican.

Lovely. I don't read much here anymore and read the last post on the page - it wasn't directed at any one person so sorry that I simply quoted yours.

Wouldn't you (all) agree that it's a justified comment? After all, we are all going the legal route.
