AOS Request for Initial Evidence??

Hi everyone, my wife and I filed for AOS a few months ago. We got a RFIE in the mail. Requesting a copy of her birth certificate. She’s from Panama so her birth certificate is in Spanish. In that paper that the USCIS mailed us about the RFIE, it mentioned at the end of the 2 pages they sent me it said something about if you submit documents in any language other then English that we need to submit the original copy in the foreign language and a complete translation and that the translator needs to certify that the translation is complete and accurate and that he/she is competent to translate the paper to English. So does this mean that I need to take my wife’s birth certificate to a certified translator to get it translated into English or can I just send the USCIS her birth certificate in Spanish????

You must send a copy of the original and a translation. The translation can be done by any person that knows both languages and can write down a statement saying they know both languages. I did my own translation.

If she knows/understand both Spanish and English, yes.

Also, do I need to doing anything special or can She just write the translation on a blank page in Microsoft Word?

I just followed the same format of my original BC. And put the certification in the bottom. The USCIS website has an example of this certification.

The translation MUST have this statement  completed/signed by the person who does the translating:

Be aware that processing for the I-765 (EAD) will be delayed until the RFIE for the I-485 has been resolved.

Doesn't have to be a certified translator.  As long as someone knows the second language and can translate everything. You will be fine.
