Does a child become US Citizen after my Oath

I am wondering if my son will be come a US Citizen automatically after My Oath ceremony?  My husband and I started this journey doing the K1 Visa and arrived in the US in 2015.  We went back in 2016 to the Philippines to pick up my son and bring him back to the US.  He has been here since 2016.  He is currently 11 years old.  We did file for his 10 year green card.  Just curious if we need to do anything additional for him to be come a US Citizen since I will be after my Oath ceremony.

If he has a green card, is under 18, in your physical and legal custody, and you are a citizen, he becomes a citizen too. The date he becomes a citizen is the date all of those get fulfilled so in your case assuming of course he lives with you, yes it is the date you take your oath. You don’t need to “do” anything else for him to be a citizen, but you’ll want to apply for evidence of his new status via a passport and/or an N600.

It’s optional, a passport is faster and cheaper as proof of USC

Ok perfect so once I do my Oath, we just file for his passport.

It would be best to apply for his/her own certificate of citizenship cause when they applied for a specific jobs, they are required to produce a copy of Naturalization. Both of my boys are derevatives of mine (K1) they

were 16 & 14 Yrs old At that time, (4yrs

ago). My eldest (16) appeared

at USCiS  For oath taking ceremony, probably 15 below is not required,

as to my youngest (14), certificate was sent to our home address and not required to appear. In gods grace, both applied to be a

servicemen, eldest is now Army and my youngest will start Navy training after high school graduation( 2021) they are Asked

to submit a copy of proof of their certificate citizenship. Who knows what requirements will be asked later? But be ready.

Thank you @waraywarayako @SusieQQQ for all the information. I’ve been thinking about this since the day after my citizenship interview. You guys helped me a lot. When do I need to apply/file the N600? The same day of my oath ceremony? Or do I need to do now? No fees included right?? Just to file the form? I’m sorry it’s very nerve wracking.

Again, you don’t need to apply for the N600. It most certainly has fees, $1170, and that is the reason many people don’t apply for it and just go the passport  route. What I personally did was this: made copies of the child’s green card, and all certificates required (parent naturalization, child birth certificate, marriage certificate if both parents married etc). Originals have to be sent in with the passport application, but if you file online for n600 (I did) obviously copies will do for the scans. When I got my kid’s passport, I added a scan of that to the n600 application. Passport came back within 8 weeks and n600 was approved about a month later.  
 

You can’t apply “now” as you are not a citizen yet. You can apply the day of your oath ceremony or anytime after that, but not before.
